Okay, so I'm a glutton for punishment. I ventured once more (and I swear to God it's the last time) into the HoC domain, and stumbled across a post declaring that Jack and Ianto are simply "Gwen's gay boyfriends".

I'm sorry - I think my brain just shut down. I could giggle at their collective confusion over why EVERYONE doesn't love Gwen unconditionally, but that was just too much.

And, can someone please tell me what the hell "BFFness" is....?

In the meantime, I'm going to go and keep plotting the follow-up stories to my fic "What Never Should Be". Insert MUCH Gwen bashing.

*facepalm* So really, the Janto relationship is all about Gwen? That's what I get from that. I really can't make any more sense of it than that.

Hmm, I think I'd like to take a peak at the HoC, but I'm afraid my head would explode.

And nice to hear there are going to be sequels for "What Never Should Be". (When are we going to get the next chapter? =)

Of course, over their everything is all about Gwen. *sigh*
As for them being her gay boyfriends, why would either of them touch her when they have each other.
BFFness is most likely to be BestFriendForeverness

But don't you get it?

Jack and Ianto are both totally in love with Gwen. And when Gwen is with Rhys, they first hold each other and cry a bit and then they discuss how to satisfy Gwen better.

That's totally how it is.

And now I think I need brain bleach. Sometimes I scare myself.

I don't understand what they mean. How can they be her gay boyfriends?

This reminds me of that episode in "Rick & Steve: The Happiest Gay Couple in All the World" were unsuccessfully Condi tries to steal Evan away from Chuck. Gwen is just like her, the delusional fag-hag that no one wants.

Hmmm, this must be a British thing. Where I come from Gay men do not fall in love with females. They might "love" women, and often do, but not THAT way. Women do not have gay boyfriends. They just don't.

I mean, my husbands best friend is Gay. They have known each other since they were 6 years old. I love Julian like a Brother but not like a boyfriend. Anyhow, he HAS a boyfriend, and believe me they are not IN love with me--that would be just--er----sick making.

What are these people taking to get these weird ideas?

Watching British tv has made me wonder if everyone over there is bisexual. On several of the shows I've seen no one thinks twice about kissing the same sex and no one around them seems to mind. Is bisexuality the norm over there or are there people there who have problems with it like some do over here? Please don't anyone take offense to the question. Just curious.

To add to kirri1's comments.
The thing about the BBC is that it is not funded by advertising and therefore doesn't have to worry about losing sponsors as a result of having gay/bi characters appearing on its shows. That's probably one of the reasons there seems to be a greater % of gay/bi characters apearing.

Good grief NO!!!
Our TV just tends to be a bit ahead of it's time when compared with American TV and behind the times when compared with, say the French TV!!
Anyway, you have to understand that the TV you watch in the States has been picked out by someone (BBCA??) so it is not really representational of British TV or the Beeb for that matter.
On the Beeb tonight we have ....
Casualty (like ER but we did it first!!) no gay characters at the moment and no bi-sexual (don't think there ever have been)
Total Wipeout (Richard Hammond (The Hamster) from Top Gear just...well, going bonkers, really, I don't understand it and I don't watch it.
Let's Dance for Comic Relief...Oh, you'd like this one, lot's of men dressed up as women, but properly (except for the occasional moustache or beard) not like a drag act or Pantomime (oh, alright, like a drag act, but a good one!!)
The Old Guys...sitcom with two retired men ...bit like the Odd Couple...quite good, not really watched it, good actors, neither character is gay.
The Vicar of Dibley repeat of course ....yes, there is a gay character in this but it is handled well.
News and film.

BBC 2 has it's array of excellent programmes which I shall not bore you by listing but suffice it to say there are no gay characters around.
Some of the presenters might be gay, of course!!
Glancing at ITV 123& 4 I can see no gay characters lurking....this is getting boring, maybe this is why I do not watch a lot of TV????

To be honest Torchwood is the only show where all the characters seem to be sexual chameleons.
Most of the "soaps" have gay characters, but that's just imitating life...

*gives you some bleach*

I think they could have means with "Gwen's gay boyfriends" that she's their fag-hag. like, boys friends. Like in the movie Juno, when the mother-to-be (can't remember her name)says she's shopping with her girls friends.

Anyway, I can't see Gwen as their super-close-friend, to whom they say everything *shivers*. Friends, yeah maybe, but not that much!!

ohhh. Yay for you preparing a sequel to "what never should be" =]

Righhhht!

Note to Self (And House of Cooper): This is TOCHWOOD...not The Gwen Cooper Hour!

I'm sorry but I really do think these people need to open their eyes and look at whats in front of them.

I just can not see Ianto, Gwen and Jack shopping with Ianto making 'gay boy' comments like "That looks Absolutely Fabulous on you darling!"

*retrieves bleach for that mental image*

And "BFFness"...I think they mean "Best Friends Forever" ness...Because that makes sense *rolls eyes*

Can't wait for the follow up on What Never Should Be!
