caz251.livejournal.com posting in antigwenallies Mar. 4th, 2009 10:44 pm)I decided to have a peek at the House of Cooper, I have a real problem of seeking knowledge, not normally much of a problem, but I had to try to find out what these people found to like in Gwen Cooper. I found a post that was in an attempt to make the 'bitterness in fandom' towards Gwen seem a bit less I suppose.
In one post the following was posted, anything underlined belongs to me though.
Let me add: 10 Reasons I love Gwen Cooper
- She takes responsibility for her mistakes, and learns from them. Oh yeah, because she learns from mistakes alright, I mean after Day One when she makes a huge mistake, she may have taken responsibility, but she didn't learn from it really.
- She's driven by curiosity and compassion. This point I understand a bit, but with her curiosity she has a lack of restraint, and curiosity killed the cat, as for compassion well as far as i've seen most of this so-called compassion seemed soo fake.
- She's honest, and says what she thinks. I'm sorry but in my opinion honesty is not what I'd call cheating on a boyfriend/partner and she may say what she thinks but it is not necessarily intelligent or tactful.
- She loves Jack, but doesn't mind opposing him when it seems appropriate. Because in some of the situations in which she opposes him are soo appropriate, as for loving Jack ( yuck)
- She loves two men, and is handling it to the best of her abilities. I'm not even going to comment on this one
- She likes sex. A lot. And this makes her lovable??
- She's a good friend to Ianto, especially in series 2. I totally see this, NOT. I mean a GOOD friend does not try to snog you boyfriend/parter/whatever we're calling Jack these days.
- She's cute in uniform. I personnally think the uniform would be cuter on a blowfish or a weevil.
- She is willing to be convinced she's wrong. WHEN??? Am I watching a completely different show??
- She risks her life to save others, without hesitation. Maybe a bit, but think of how many she killed, Ed Morgan for a start.

Caz, hon, I'd like to join you with that bleach. I feel contaminated, now.
Someone posted the line that they love ALL the scenes with Gwen and Rhys, and I wanted to post a reply asking if they also loved the scene where she told Rhys she'd cheated on him, asked for his forgiveness and then admitted she'd retconned him.
Yes, she doesn't mind being honest, as long as the person she's being honest with doesn't remember afterwards. Seriously, did the woman not learn a thing from the Suzie incident????
Amythest, do you mind if I post an entry on my own LJ advertising the AGA? I'd love to help spread the anti-Gwen word around LJ. Especially after reading that one of them promotes Ianto/Gwen shipping.

Someone in a LJ community awhile ago said that they actually watched every single episode and kept track of how much air time each character had. Gwen had the most out of all. Except for the couple where they were supposed to have center stage (which they didn't because more air time was given to Gwen) Tosh and Ianto, my favorites with Jack being a not close second, had the least. What a underuse of great talent! Makes you think TW's writers, producers, etc including RTD are a much of amateurs. This is reinforced by the facts that they killed off Owen and Tosh and are still pushing Gwen on us instead of letting the character stand on it's own.

Liking sex?! Well i mean compaired to Jack and Ianto she barely does :P But common the only people we've actually known she's had sex with are Rhys and Owen... not exactly loving it ALOT is she from that?

ie, Season 2's "Adrift" was very much a Gwen-centric episode, but the writers saw fit to give us that beautiful, jaw-dropping moment when we get an eyeful of naked!Jack and naked!Ianto. As far as I'm concerned, moments like that are one of the strongest reasons I have to keep coming back.
Yes, I've read the interviews where Eve Myles goes on about Gwen's role in the upcoming season 3. HOWEVER, I also cling to hope through comments made by John Barrowman and Gareth David-Lloyd, about how we will see development of Jack and Ianto's relationship, and how we will learn more about Ianto's past.
I keep the faith that TW is NOT degenerating into "The Gwen Cooper Show". And whatever we have to put up with of her will be tempered by our never-failing ability to mock soundly.

And I actually went to the HoC and let me tell you the banner alone made me physically sick. The blurb makes her totally sound the selfish b^%ch she is.(Not me, not I)I went to the user's info, there are heaps of (brainwashed)members and there are a few who pulled out. If you go to lj comms of the other members, ALL their members are still there. HEHEHEHE!
Although, seeing that the picture of her standing alone looking lost is actually a very good depiction of her throughout the series.
Scared, trying to look tough. Alone, trying to get everyone to notice her. Lost, trying to say something clever (making her look even more like a fool.)
And that top, it look liked she couldn't afford clothing from outside and decided to redesign one of the weevil straight-jackets.
