Just came across this interview on [livejournal.com profile] torch_wood for the new series so spoilers ahead and even though the whole thing sucks of Gwen love it's the last sentence that pissed me off

How about Gwen – where does she go this season?

She has this wealth of experience, so she now is on a par with Jack, in terms of having the knowledge and the experience to make decisions and to be a heroine.

So let me get this straight a wet behind the ears copper who get's kidnapped at the drop of a hat considers herself on par with a 150 plus ex time agent who's been there done that and has the entire damn wardrobe!

Someone needs to remind her it's not her show, it's John's. Nothing her character does will ever make her the equivalent of Jack's character and for all the nice things people say about EM, I'm really beginning to wonder about the ego behind statements like this.

I find it's the icon I'm getting the most use of these days. Here's a wincest one I love :)

gawd - every time I think - just THINK - I might be mellowing in regards to Gwen/Eve - she opens her mouth and pushes my buttons - gawd that woman's ego knows no bounds and unlike John she doesn't have the talent or the intelligence to back up any of her moronic claims

*shudder*

and to think i was hopeful that the new director-y person wouldn't be a gwen fanatic...

You know, reading that interveiw it does actually seem as though Eve Myles wants Gwen to become jack.

"she's becoming more and more a kind of militant figure, I think."

"She's got a very old head on young shoulders."

And you're right, it's ridiculous! I hope she realises they made the show for CJH, not her :S

The bit where she spoke about Gwenwth in Doctor Who really bugged me too, making Gwen seem as hough she's always been connected to the rift. I think she needs to make up her mind - does she want Gwen to be the ordingary girl who could be anyone in the audience, or the new CJH.

But I think the worst thing she said was that Gwack "is always wonderful to watch." *yuck*

From: [identity profile] caz251.livejournal.com

The bit about Gweneth and how her family had always been protectors of the rift got me to. At least in the episode with Gweneth even though she was a central character she was still background to the real leads.

"She's an extraordinary character – she's grounded" ???? Does she know her character at all???

"She's kind of a star, because she saves people's live every single day, and any kind of gratitude she completely brushes off, because she's here for a purpose. " Oh yeah, all those lives she SAVED, what is Eve Myles on before these interviews. Throughout both series she has made many mistakes that have got people killed (Day One) or ruined their lives (Adrift) I mean before Nikki Bevan at least had hope.

I'm glad in so many ways that this is only TV, because if "She'll always, always do her best." is what we've been seeing then if this was reality I'd fear for the populace.

The whole thing about her and Jack "I think that lovely mixture of will-they-won't-they is always wonderful to watch.", maybe for her, but no, I don't even want to start a rant on the wrongness of Gwack.

One last thing to conclude my rant, what you said :-

"She has this wealth of experience, so she now is on a par with Jack, in terms of having the knowledge and the experience to make decisions and to be a heroine.

So let me get this straight a wet behind the ears copper who get's kidnapped at the drop of a hat considers herself on par with a 150 plus ex time agent who's been there done that and has the entire damn wardrobe!"

I entirely agree, she considers herself to have all this experience, but had no idea what Daleks were (The Stolen Earth), I mean it's not like Torchwood hadn't encountered them before. How hard would it be to look through previous files to see what your protecting against.

Sorry about all that, your post just started of a huge rant, I apologise.

Pass the sick bucket please.
Gwen has no idea how to make the hard decisions like Jack does. If it ever came down to saving Rhys or saving the world, Gwen would save Rhys and the rest of the world be damned. Jack on the other hand would make the hard decision, has made the hard decision and would put the needs of the many over the needs of the one, and that is what an organization like Torchwood needs.

Ianto is far more capable of running the administrative side of Torchwood than even Jack is. As to the fieldwork anyone would be better than someone who makes decisions based on emotions and not logic. Is there any place to write to tell them how we really feel about her?

Why does Gwen keep thinking this is the GWEN SHOW...Not Torchwood?!?

Ok I read the interview and a few things make we want to A) throw up or B) throw my computer across the room or C) run off to find some Gwen bashing fics

They ask whether Gwen and Jack and how Eve "make sure there's a constant connection between the two characters even if we both don't have lines" WHAT?!?!?! Gwack will NEVER happen and if anything does, Ianto will retcon Gwen's ass back into kindy and get rid of her.

And then she starts babbling on about her BLOODY DOG!?!?!?

*sigh* kill me now!

This interview just makes me want to throttle someone!

We apologise to the readers of this comment but chester_kat cannot comment on this post at this time as after reading the gwen!love drivel provided in this interview her eyeballs began to bleed and her head has now taken up permenant residence in the gwen-induced vomit bucket

Thank you and have a lovely gwen!love free day

Pass the sick bucket

If Eve Myles wants folk to think she is an egocentric idiot she is doing a wonderful job. As time has past and I have seen Eve more I have started to seriously dislike her and this was no help in that regard.

Personally, I just think that Eve is dim. Being an actress is no guarantee of intelligence and she obviously has none.

It is interesting to note that my 10 year old told me that the only reason Eve got a Puppy was because John Barrowman had one---she told me that Eve wants to be like John ----she has even begun to act like him while filming etc---

I am now wishing that Gwen would die--if that means no more Torchwood I think I could bear it because Gwen/Eve is REALLY MAKING ME ILL---

I thought that Torchwood was conceived as a spin off show for Jack Harkness----not as THE ADVENTURES OF THE WONDERFUL, THE PERFECT, GWEN COOPER SHOW------

I feel like finding Eve and saying "look, why don't you just bugger off and join the rest of us in the real world, which doesn't revolve around you". I mean, she is 32 this year--by the time I was her age I had been around the world, got 2 Honors degrees and was married with kids. If she thinks she has lived--well she hasn't been born yet----

Just recalled that a while back I read someplace that Eve Myles said in an interview that being famous made her sick-----JOIN THE CLUB BABY---

VOMIT----VOMIT---

This is a joke right. I mean this was posted to cheer me up after my horrible inorganic chem test from today, Right? I mean nobody is delusional enough to think that gwen is on par with Jack. I mean the only thing that you can say that they might be the same is that they both have problem wi being in acommitted relationship, and person ally I think that in Jack's part is because he knows they will die and is afraid of felling that pain, while Gwen goes trough men, like a spoil child who hasn't learn that she doesn't own the world. Also if anybody can tell me if it is true that series 4 will be Jack/Gwen, just so that I can prepare myself.

From: [identity profile] slns7552.livejournal.com

From what Julie Gardner said the Jack/Ianto relationship gets stronger. On the other hand, it is said that the first episode of the 5 parter finds the team drifting apart. Maybe its me but since this is after Lost Souls and the 2 Doctor Who episodes you wouldn't think they would be drifting apart now.

I feel the same way about the books. They should just call them "The Gwen Chronicles" since 80% of the books seem to revolve around her. Rhys also seems to be center staged in many of them as well. Maybe they should even change Torchwood to the Gwen and Rhys Show since they are shoved down our throats all time.

It amazes me. Do the powers that be even watch the show? Do John Barrowman and Eve Myles actually watch the Gwack moments and keep straight faces? Am I the only one who watches them and thinks the scenes are really phony and the actors have no charisma at all? Am I the only one who didn't find the shooting range scene hot? Who thought Gwen was acting like a love struck teenaged girl with her first crush and Jack was just acting like Jack?

I don't think Eve Myles is that good of an actress. The only things I've seen her in was the Doctor Who episode and Torchwood and she was playing the same character pretty much. No range at all.

She hasnt lived I'm only 15 and probably have done better things and have a better understanding of everything like this and I know for a fact that if gwack started I would fucking kill myself to rid me of the nightmare ha I lost my mum when I was 12 so I'm now pretty wise for my age and fell like I've got an old brain but do I think I could do half this stuff jack has no I've probably had a harder life than her stupid women
