A place for all gwen haters? Awesome!
I've just been reading through some of the old posts and this community is so awesome i joined live journal just to become a member :P
Sadly i used to like gwen but re-watching both seasons officially made me hate her to bits and i've gotten lots of new reasons to dislike her here :P

I thought i'd brave posting here when i got hold of a copy of the Torchwood Magasize only to find a seven page spead all about Gwen!
As if it wasn't bad enough there was a list of "top 10 Gwen" moments from the show which i thought were mostly ridiculous:

Number 10: Gwen refusing to retcon rhys in Meat.
I have to admit that the bit where she stands up to jack is one of the only moments where i actually liked Gwen in S2. So i wouldn't have minded this entry is it hadn't gone on to say "her touching refusal to drug him...was pivitol in their ... trusting relationship." Trusting? did the people who wrote this Top 10 forget her compliance to retcon him after cheating on Owen? Or her lying to him in Everything Changes, Meat, even Adrift after he found out About TW?

Number 9: The Owen/Gwen Scene in Countrside
I love rhys so my original reason for hating Gwen in S1 was cheating on him with Owen. I was not happy with this sceen. It just went to show how unfaithful she was to Rhys. Funny how this moment was placed higher that her being truthful/trusting to him...

Number 8: Gwen Forgetting Rhys and threatening him in Adam
The list then goes on to say "The thought of gwen without rhys? It doesn't bare thinking about!" This list needs to make up it's mind. Do they want Gwen/Rhys, Gwen/Owen or Gwen/Carys (see #6)? 
Random thing - in the mag it said that it wasn't okay to show her threatening him with a knife in the post water shed ep but aiming a gun at him was fine :P lol

Number 7: Gwen Breaking into Torchwood with the Pizza in Everything Changes
Because no on could possibly have thought of this cunning ruse without her police training. Never. Although i loved Owen and Ianto in this sceen i wouldn't say it was a parically amazing reason of why Gwen in supposedly great.

Number 6: Gwen kissing Carys in Day One
if a kiss between her and an alien infested girl with weird alien pheromones makes number 6 on a list of good moments, it's looking pretty desperate for gwen! :S

Number 5: Gwen's reaction walking in on Jack and ianto in Adrift
Because in this sceen everybody was obviously watching to get a look at Gwens reaction... Although she did smile - i would have half expected her to have her puppy dog eyes or look jelous or something - so it could have been worse.

Number 4: Hiding the gun in the bouquet in Something Borowed
I have no probalem with this Gwen sceen... Anybody have a reason why it's rubbish? :P

Number 3: Keeping going till she found out about Jonah in Adrift
How is this a good moment? It shows how she doesn't listen and does whatever she feels like while showing no reasoning that Jack could be telling her too keep away for her own good. Then at the end she's caused poor Nikki Bevan to lose all hopw when she was still believing her son was fine. Overall his Gwencentrc ep just shows her bad side. (supposing she has a good side...)

Number 2: Staying by Jack in the morgue in End of Days
"As the rest of the team resign themself to life without jack... Gwen does not (or cannot) stop believing in him , and stays with his lifeless body day and night until he finally revives." WHat about poor Ianto left sitting with Jack's coat because she's hogging the seat in the morgue? And who does jack kiss when he finally revives? Not gwen for sure. Nuff said.

And finally: Number 1: Gwen and Rhys getting Married
"Who didn't give a cheer (or maybe evern shed a tear) when gwen and rhys finally said 'i do'?" Yeah because we're so happy for both of them. Convieniantly forgetting the fact the gwen kissed Nostrovite!Jack (who she thought was jack) on her wedding day, she's still only Marrying Rhys becuase "no-one else will have [her]."  Then there's poor lovable Rhys who thinks the world of her but she can't see tha because she's doe-eyeing jack all the time.

"Here's to the happy couple - any many more top Gwen moments to come" They ended it with. And to be honest i'd love some good gwen moments. i think it's a shame that in a show i love so much there is a character i absolutely hate. Maybe if she listens, and gets over Jack I can stand her a bit but untill then i'm going to be left wishing she'd get mauled by a weevil while trying to figue ojut her real job :S

Well rant over :P And to end on a good note i have ti say Eve Myle's puppy is cute!

Number 5 sent me loling! Of course we were watching Gwen and only Gwen! Wait a moment... Gwen was in the hothouse scene? *is confused*

I think I could stand Gwen much better if there weren't so many people going on and on about how great she is (She isn't. Really. Just a conceited, delusional little girl, living in a dream world). And Gwack makes me gag.

And i know what you mean - All the people i know love Gwen no matter how much horrible stuff she does. I really don't get how they like her :S And gwack. It's annoying how people seem to overlook all the ridiculous stuff she does and like her anywau :P

i think they would have to use all her moments for this list, because in my opinion all her moments are worthy of a worst moments list.
i think that the worst part of her is that everyone treats her like she is perfect, like she is everything, when in my opinion she is the worst character on the show, i can't accept that they took away Tosh and Owen and let her stay

I know, it's like all Gwen fans choose to be completely ignorant of the fact she's an utterr cow :P and i agree, it would have been so much better if she had been killed off in Exit Wounds. Although I liked the whole zombie!owen thing so i think she should be shot instead of Tosh :P

I don't really think she has any purpose in the show anymore. At first she was just meant to be the newgirl veiwers were supposed to relate to, but now we know about TW and what's going on she doesn't need to be there :P

I Can't believe some of these moments were considered good!

There is only one moment on there that I actually think is decent...Gwen with the gun in the flowers. Only because it was actually a good idea *is shocked*

But the Gwen scene with the pizza...I wasn't even focusing on her...It was all the TW team I was looking at.

And I really want to know....WHO THE HELL WATCHES THE HOTHOUSE SCENE FOR GWEN?!?!??! That was a total Janto moment...And Gwen just barged in trying to take over the scene. We all know she failed but still! That was Ianto's spotlight moment and Gwen was trying to steal it!

I agree with the bouquet thing - i couldn't think of anything bad to write about it :P although saying that having one ok sceen out of 26 episodes ain't looking too good for gwen :P

I love the idea of Gwen trying and failing at stealing Ianto's spotlight! hehe - i can just image her sulking that Jack chose ianto over her :P

Yes Gwen probably goes home and crys about how she doesn't have Jack and then when Rhys asks why she's all sad she'll just be like "something horrible happened at work" or "Its just that time of the month"

She's married...Can't she just leave Jack and Ianto to be happy together?!?

My daughter buys the Torchwood Magazine and the Dr Who one out of her Allowance. She was in what is called a "mood" after the Gwen issue.{She watched the Kid version of Torchwood and loves Jack and Ianto and hates Gwen.}

Her comments on this Gwen is wonderful issue are interesting--she asked me why EVERYONE is always going on about wonderful Gwen when she is stupid and horrible and treats Rhys like a Pet Dog.

I particularly like the Dog bit---and I agree with her actually--- although I did NOT say when she started watching the program that I disliked Gwen, because I think kids should be free to make up their own minds about these things. She is 10 by the way.

My oldest son also hates Gwen, and has gone away half way through some episodes because Gwen was making him so mad----he was particularly irritated by the last episode in Season 2.{The bit where Gwen talks to the Cardiff Police Force and gives them instructions.} In fact, he went off at that point to play games on his PC. He told me later that whoever wrote that scene should be taken out and shot---I told him that was a bit extreme so he said that they should be unemployed anyhow.

This article only shows me once more that my view of Gwen and the Official view of Gwen are miles apart. I think of her as a largely useless self-centered, almost completely, untalented bitch.

While I am moaning, I can't help wondering what Gwackers actually DO about Rhys. I cannot make myself read or watch any of their efforts so I haven't found out. Do they kill him off? Do they make Gwen sleep with Jack and go home to Rhys and sleep with him? This doesn't exactly make her look good, does it? After all, Jack is SUPPOSED to be flirty etc---Gwen is supposed to be perfect---

well my friends who ship qwack all think rhys is horrible - how i have no idea because he's lovely to gwen and loyal despite her lying and always working. But they assure me that he's brash and violent and untrusting ( i might give them the last one but considering he's with Gwen i think he has a right to be)

So they, for some reason, think that she should chuck rhys and live happily ever after with jack... Which would completely ruin TW imo.

I looked up Brash in my German-English dictionary and it said Dreist which is usually translated as Bold or Audacious. So I guess that is Rhys--he married Gwen didn't he?

Violent? What are they watching?

Untrusting? He's married to Gwen--she is always lying to him and treating him badly and on her wedding day she kissed Jack {it wasn't him but she didn't know that when she started to kiss him.}

I do not think the writers could carrying on with Torchwood if Jack and Gwen were a couple. They make a great thing of them staring at each other--JB looking dazed and puzzled {he may love Eve in real life but cannot convey that in the program} and Eve with her eyes popping out. This is not convincing acting and I have acted {as a kid} and oldest son was in Stagecoach for some time and has acted too.

I see however, that to ship Jack/Gwen means to loathe Rhys. However, evidently Rhys is to get more to do in Season 3 --that can't be pleasing these folk.

As for the violent thing - i think it's from the way that he shouted at Gwen in Adrift. And when he called her a cold hearted bitch and such. Which personally i think he was perfectly right to do... But aparently this makes him violent and evil *rolls eyes*

I don't think gwack could possibly work either not only for the show but i don't think the two of them are at all compatable. Gwen and Jack just couldn't possibly have a relationship. Jack's too private and Gwen's too nosy. Like the whole Adrift thing, Jack told her not to pry but she did. It wouldn't work.

And personally i love rhys, i think he's great, so i can't wait to see him have a larger role in S3. And if it means gwen stops making cow-eyes a jack and stays faithful then i will be all the better :P

I can't recall this scene at all. However, my youngest was a year old not long ago, so when it was shown I was probably busy with other things. I must watch it again when I have time as I would really enjoy Gwen getting shouted at----

I hated that scene with Rhys finally getting fed up enough with Gwen that he shouted at her. I have a feeling that it was deliberately written so as to give Gwen a justification for retconning Rhys before she 'confessed' to him. After all (sarcasm alert) if he was so angry over a simple date, he would clearly have been dangerously angry over her affair, so she really didn't have a choice. (rolls eyes)

On the rare occasions that I've accidentally read Gwack fic, Rhys and Ianto are usually just ignored because it's all about Gwack. Some of the less awful fic might throw in a line about how Rhys and Gwen split up, usually giving the reason that Rhys couldn't deal with Gwen's work (rolls eyes).
But even then, most of the time Ianto's relationship with Jack is just ignored as if it never existed. And that's what really makes my blood boil. Fine, if a writer wants to write Gwack, that's their business, but if they can't at least make some attempt to fit in with canon, grrrrr!!!

(Although I did read a paragraph of one fic where Jack simply told Ianto that he wanted to make a go of things with Gwen, but Gwen was still officially with Rhys (like Jack is ever likely to be somebody's dirty little secret))

They completely ignored the absolute best Gwen scene of the series so far...after John has kissed her with the paralyzing lip gloss. A good ten minutes at least of Gwen unable to move or talk...best episode ever ;-)

And it just made her getting up and walking around in the next episode so much worse by comparison :P

I have to admit that it was my 10 year old who said Gwen had a funny way of running---she told me it was because of her boots--according to Anna-Louise her boots are old fashioned---
