In an interview JB said that series 3 would be about the three core team members.

Why I don't want to see a real Torchwood three way with Jack, Ianto and Gwen.

1. Ianto is the only man on the show who ISN'T in love/infatuated with her. Having him sleep with her would make her a Canon!Mary Sue* (more so than she already is).

2. I really don't want to see her cheat on Rhys *again*. The writers may have forgotten about her affair with Owen, but I haven't. Maybe I could have gotten over it if she had actually suffered ANY consequences for it at all.

*Mary Sue: The author may seem to push how exceptional and wonderful the 'Mary Sue' character is on his or her audience, sometimes leading the audience to dislike or even resent the character fairly quickly; such a character could be described as an 'author's pet'.

Feel free to tell me you think.

Surely they can't have her cheat on Rhys AGAIN. I just found out she cheated on him in one of the books too. As if sleeping with Owen wasn't bad enough.

Ianto has more sense than that. (Hopefully)

Really? What book?

Yes. Sleeping with Gwen would be about 12 feet completely out of Ianto's personality range. That's not who he is.

Having Ianto, Jack and Gwen as the core team members doesn't automatically mean that Ianto will start sleeping with Gwen. And if he did, well, they'll have a lot of pissed off fans to explain to. So I wouldn't worry about that.

Although! I am nervous about what Julie Gardner said about how series 3 would have the team dealing with "decisions regarding their professional and personal lives." I really don't want Jack and Ianto to break up. I don't want Ianto or Jack to step down or leave completely. And I don't want Gwen to break up with Rhys. (Although I wouldn't mind Gwen stepping down as second in command. :D As long as that doesn't precede a scene where Jack recites his undying love towards her and how he "needs" her and other such nonsense).

The writers have come way too far in both relationships to negate them!

i don't fink jack and ianto will break up, this is from a very recent interview with julie gardner

"Julie Gardner on whether or not Jack and Ianto will continue as a couple

JG: Yes, I like seeing them as a couple."

If a three-way relationship goes down between Jack/Ianto/Gwen or if Ianto goes anywhere near Gwen's herpes infested lady parts then my television set is taking a one-way trip out of the living room window.

Mine will be pretty much going the same way. It'll be painful enough having to watch Gwen now there's two less main characters around to ease the horror with, if something like that went down I'd stop watching altogether. (Which is what two of my other once favourite shows did and turned me off from watching entirely x_x)

Buffy and Smallville... though with Smallville the writers had a similar hard on for Lana as TW's does Gwen. Both characters are widely despised and then got shipped with favourites. Though hopefully with Torchwood, Gwen won't get her claws into a main character like Lana did. x_x Blech.

In my head, with Martha appearing, she's going to tell Gwen some home truths about unrequited love and hopefully to get her claws back into Rhys and to stop panting after Jack. If that leads to Martha having to smack a bitch down, hey I'm for that. If necessary she should do the same to Jack.

Though there's a small part of me dreading that a five part series is the perfect length to break-up Jack and Ianto. I swear to GOD if there's any Janto break-up and a matching Gewn/Rhys break-up I refuse to watch this shit after that.

i agree, it would be gd 4 martha to tell gwen and few home truths (and slap her)

dw too much about ianto and jack breaking up, this is from a recent interview

"Julie Gardner on whether or not Jack and Ianto will continue as a couple

JG: Yes, I like seeing them as a couple."

i hope ianto's got more sense to go anywhere near gwen!
i'm more worried about mickey though, i hope to god he notices what a bitch she is instead of ~falling for her~

"Canon!Mary Sue" ?

That was a really, really polite way of saying something completely different!
