Rant about Gwen in TW S01E11 Combat

I was watching Combat the other day and I'm reminded why i hate Gwen. The part where she comes back from telling the family about the deceased and she tells Owen that it's sooooooooo hard and then gets upset because he has no words of sympathy. HELLO he just had his heart shattered he is too busy hurting to care about her not as angsty problem. Then the whole thing with Rhys and the 'please forgive me i need you to forgive me' What a selfish bitch.

Yeah, I think I would like Gwen better if they actually SHOWED her being compassionate instead of just TELLING us she is. That is her only job at Torchwood. Alien profiler *Ianto style eye-roll*

You know what really irritates me, after she confessed she retconned Rhys. If there's one thing I can't stand, it's people who refuse to take responsibility. That pretty much killed what little sympathy I had for her. She basically confessed so that SHE would feel better. Poor Rhys *pets him*

Where is the compassion? It wasn't there with Owen. Rhys deserves better.

Well, the writer keep telling us that Gwen is the compassionate heart of the team. How anyone can think that having her retcon and lie to Rhys in general shows her compassion is beyond me. It's almost like the writers WANT us to hate her.

Yeah. I think most people feel that way, except for RTD and the writers. They really love Gwen.

Hopefully, although I did hear a rumour that in series 3 Jack will be a recurring character and Gwen will be the main lead. All I can say to that is: I have no interest in watching The Gwen Cooper Show! It'll be like series 1, only worse.

Yeah, this is why i love Rhys. He has to put up with so much shit from Gwen. Bless him.
And i don't get the fact that she retconned him and only said about her sleeping with Owen. She said she wanted to get everything out in the open...why not tell him everything then as he's not going to remember? It would make her seem less of a lying selfish bitch. Oh well.

My 9 year old watched Torchwood for the first time when they had the young version. Her first reaction, totally unprompted, to Gwen, was that she thought Gwen was "a bit stupid". Later she came to me and said she didn't like Gwen. I asked her why and she told me that Jack and Ianto were going to be married and Gwen was already married, and she thought Gwen was trying to break Jack and Ianto up! She didn't like that at all. Also she thought Gwen was nasty to the poor lady whose son was an alien and she didn't do what Jack told her and that was awful. Having told me all that she then added that Gwen needed to go to a dentist because her friend Amy has teeth like Gwen's and her Muummy is going to get them fixed.

I can't help agreeing with all this.

I think it proves how awful Gwen is when she is hated by all age groups. Lol

You're daughter is really smart.

Plus I agree with everything said here. My main problem with her was her cheating on Rhys/ lusting after Jack. I mean we all fancy Jack but you have a boyfriend/husband try to control yourself.

My oldest son, who is 13, doesn't like her either. I wont tell you what he called her but I will mention that it caused his Father to dock his allowance for a week.
