It has to be the gap in the teeth. That's the only explanation. It does something to men. Seriously, did we even watch the same show? Selfish, self-centered, self-righteous, manipulative, happy to cheat on her boyfriend, even going so far as to giving Jack the eye while actually kissing said boyfriend, teaching conman Jack and shop-lifter Ianto to steal, ditching her partner Andy whenever she felt like it regardless of job or friendship considerations, regularly disobeying orders because she knows better. Disregarding the knowledge and experience of her teammates because, again, she knows better. Actually taking over leadership when Jack disappears. The newbie. The rookie. OMG. Nothing against Eve Myles, but Gwen is probably the worst-written, least likable character I've ever seen who wasn't set out to be unlikable. I've liked some who were set out that way more than I liked her. If she is your example of the kind of person we should be admiring, well, the gap in the teeth clearly has messed with your head.

"Possibly try and focus on the damage and the reality of Gwen's character and what her actions in Season 1 really shows about the way her mind works"
Clearly he drank the Koolaid. I can tell you how her mind works. "It's me, me, me all the time." Boy, this has really brought out the anger in me. I kind of want to smash the wanker's face in. My reply to his comment:
What damage? She retconned her boyfriend so he wouldn't remember about her cheating on him. The only damage there is that he forgot before he forgave her. Oh, what a pity. What other damage did she sustain? She destroyed Jonah Bevan's mother through her own self-righteous 'I know better than anyone' attitude. Tosh lost her mother and was imprisoned by UNIT. Ianto lost his girlfriend, went through the hell of the Canary Wharf invasion, and lost his lover when Jack left. Owen lost his soon-to-be wife. Jack loses everything and everybody. Gwen didn't get forgiven by her boyfriend. Even when he died, she got him back. What damage?

And, this is amazing, even they wouldn´t mind the show without Jack, only with Gwen (For me Jack is the main reason for the show and the main character of it. I always missed seeing the show from Jack´s POV)

It is a loathsome, stomach churning article.
Loved your reply that was deleted. Those scenes in the car in MD were truly shocking. You missed the part where she confesses that she was glad the others were dead and only her left as that makes her 'special'.
One of the worst, most badly written characters ever.

When I stumble across any images of her in her role "Frankie", it just makes me queasy. The promo picture on the DVD cover makes her look like a psychopath.
I don't know what Eve is like as a person. I don't know her, can't comment. She is probably a perfectly lovely person, from what little I've seen of her in panel vids, and from stories people tell of meeting her at cons. But, I simply do not like her acting.
What I find frustrating is that her hardcore fans, like the chump who wrote that article, seem to take extreme offence when someone like me says "I don't like her acting". They need to take a cue from John Barrowman, who knows that not everyone will like him, his acting, whatever, and just takes it in his stride. His fans accept that, too. Well, mostly.
Fans of Eve Myles, and fans of Gwen *gag* Cooper, need to realise that it isn't a hanging offence to express a dislike of either the person or the character.

Just wanted to add that I don't like her acting much either. I missed her in Merlin as I didn't always watch it and I can't remember her in Doctor Who.
But I did watch Frankie. Well I watched the first few episodes and then it became so awful and her character so horrendous that I couldn't watch anymore and stopped.
There is a reason why it wasn't picked up for a second series...

Really? I wonder... The spiteful (and I admit that - it is spiteful) part of me can't help but think, so much for RTD thinking that she can hold up a show in her own right.
On the other hand, it probably just wasn't the right vehicle for her. *shrugs* If the writers hadn't been such a pack of idiots, and RTD hadn't had such a man-crush on her, then it's possible that Gwen might have been a far better character instead of the self-righteous, cheating, lying, stubborn, blinkered, self-absorbed, emotionally manipulative cow that she was.

I am amused - especially by comment #23.
