This link popped up in my Facebook timeline and after reading a few of the comments I can't help but wonder, how about replacing the Gwennienator with River Song? Thoughts?

On a side note, I was there during Alex Kingston's panel and then got to meet her just for a little bit of time and she is such an amazing person. It was exciting!

Another good idea would be Jack and River travel together (in DW) and then return to Diff at some point to find... our old and beloved Torchwood.Still without Gwen though, she discussed with one alien too much and got eaten or something. ;)

I could even see River deliberately making that happen. We've seen in Doctor Who that River has no problem with messing with things that should happen/have already happened/etc when it's for the right reasons, and if she can understand doing it for her love for the Doctor, I'm sure she could understand Jack needing to do it for his love of Ianto.

Gwen would have been okay if she'd remembered her place as the junior member, obeyed orders, AND STOPPED MOONING OVER jACK

Seriously, though. I think they'd need a Ianto to stay grounded and also not lost in guns and orgy's.
....
Heck, who am I kidding? I just want to see Ianto again.

To me, the show isn't really dead if we keep talking about it in this way. A spin-off is probably never going to happen and I really don't see Torchwood ever continuing, but the AGA is still a very pleasant place to go to and the stories the fans tell are a joy to read.
Can I ask if you're feeling particularly angry about this? or am I just interpreting things wrong? Also, is this your goodbye to the fandom? Because I'd really hate to see that happening. ;.;

That said, yes I meant it but I could have worded it more nicely. COE, the deaths of Ianto, Tosh, and Owen, and Jack sacrificing Stephan killed TW for me. I read fanfiction but can't even watch my DVDs any more. I stopped reading the books and listening to the plays also. I had no desire to see Miracle Day either.
As to River, she annoyed me the few times I've seen her. I can't get into her.
Oh and I'm an soon to be senior woman. Lol

Sometimes I even question if I'm really a Torchwood fan. I didn't like Owen or Jack really, hated Gwen. The one that drew me to TW was Ianto and later hoped to see more of him and Tosh. Now, I'm a complete Janto girl. I won't even read them with someone else. Jack, I think, was ruined by bad writing. He was a Time Agent, he fought in many wars, including WWI and WWII here on Earth. Small Worlds showed that he lead his own squadron, and it was said or suggested that he actually became a real Captain in the RAF at one point. To see him not leading his team and letting them get away with so much, especially Gwen and her unprofessionalism and just plain immaturity, was very disheartening. I think RTD and Julie Gardner actually did more harm than good when they were actively doing anything with the show.

Let bring River in to "discover" Adams nasty games. Sadly it all happened in Gwens head (would also explain why she thinks she's a leading lady when she clearly has no clue at all) and she has to be sacrificed. Oooohh.

I really don't want to see more of Gwen and it would be natural that two-hundred years on she wouldn't be around. With River or others Jack could fondly remember his Torchwood team and Owen, Tosh, and Ianto might even make cameo appearances in flashbacks.
I'd love it if, in a new series with River, Jack voiced his evolved realization that Gwen betrayed him too often to be remembered fondly or with love.
