Hi! Newbie here, both to Torchwood and the community. I'm guessing you've all done a "Why I hate Gwen" post, but I thought I'd post my own personal ramblings on why I dislike her, just for the fun of it.

Speaking as someone who's disliked Gwen from the first episode I saw (Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang.) I even remember talking about it with my mum and saying something like "I really liked the show, but that welsh lassie annoyed me."

Here's my reasons in no particular order.

1. Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang - "That's an engagement ring that is." I found very rude and unnecessarily cheeky. Only accepting Rhys' marriage proposal because "No one else will have her." Yeah, there's a good reason no-one else I'll have you, and how romantic, only marrying Rhys cause no-one else asked *eye-roll* Going with John when Jack warned her not too, and of course Jack was right. "Tell Jack I l.." She thought she was going to die and she couldn't spare one thought for her loving fiance.

2. Meat - Looking at Jack while she's kissing Rhys. I mean what the hell was that all about. Refusing to RetCon Rhys. I didn't want her to do it (I love Rhys), but refusing to follow orders ans suddenly caring about Rhys feelings when months before she'd RetConned him for her own selfish reasons was very hypocritical.

3. Something borrowed - Trying to kiss Jack on her wedding day to Rhys!!! It might not have been him but she didn't know that, and she was willing to kiss an another man on the day she was going to get married to the man she's supposed to love.

4. Adrift - Not leaving the situation alone, not listening to Jack (again), leaving Andy behind, not being able to keep her work life and her home life separate.

5. End of Days - Punching Jack when all he did was speak the truth about her and Owen. "I wanna sit with him." She's known him the least amount of time, and even though they had a bond it still didn't give her the right to be alone with him, she could have sat with him with others there too, but noooo, she has to have him too herself while poor Ianto has to go cry into Jack's coat.

6. Having an affair with Owen, who up until that point she didn't even get on with much. Having an affair because no-one else understands what she doe's, my god you don't have to sleep with him to talk to him about things, and if not Owen, she could talk to Jack, Ianto, Tosh. I know you might be troubled but does having sex with someone you barely know really help the matter.

7. Lying to Rhys, over and over again, especially the RetCon bit. It's bad enough to cheat on him but she couldn't even face the consequences. I mean if you're going to do something like that why bother telling him in the first place, to make yourself feel better, grow-up.

8. Exit Wounds - She didn't annoy me in this episode, but it annoyed me that Tosh and Owen died and she lived. If it had been Gwen and Owen or Gwen and Tosh who died at least Gwen's death would help cushion the blow of whoever the other person to die was.

I think that's all. I've only seen the episodes once so there's probably other things I've missed. I'm sure you all can help me add more to my list :)

P.S. Sorry it's so long, I can get carried away sometimes.

Welcome to the community :D I agree pretty much with everything you said. My biggest problem with Gwen is that she is just sooo badly written. Maybe if she was written as a grown up instead of a teenager I'd like her more. Apparently
she was written as Rose to Jack's Doctor- which could have worked, except Gwen is *suppose* to be an adult.
