I have just had a look at BARB, and note MD has slipped down to position 19 with an audience of 5.17 million viewers by ep 5. Does any one have any idea what Starz figures are for the same?

episode 4 was ranked 10th on the BBC, whereas ep 5 was ranked 19th.

This may seem like a big drop, but actually the viewship was almost the same (5.19 and 5.17m respectively)

There was extensive news coverage of the shocking riots in the UK the week that ep 5 aired, and therefore many newsbroadcasts had higher than usual ratings and are in the top 20

I thought this was interesting.

There was an article in the Guardian by the Director of BBC vision which quoted what he called some "striking data" about ratings. One of the shows he used to illustrate the point was Torchwood.

He said that the episode of Torchwood which aired 28 july (ep 3) had 6.3m viewers (up from 4.2m overnight) using the BBCs new Live + 7 ratings calulations.
