From TV by the Numbers:
Here's what I don't get. We already know what's going on (can't die). And they pretty much told us who is responsible (Big Pharma). And we know that Earth is going to go to hell in a handbasket.
So what the hell are they going to spend the next 7 episodes on?
Gwen and Rhys talking on Skype?
PC Andy saying, "What's all this then?"
More car chases and things blowing up?
Jack getting more boo-boos that heal slowly and whining about them?
Finding out why Mr. Pedo is helping Big Pharma?
Gwen single-handedly disarming a nuclear weapon?
Determining whether Mekji Phifer and Alexa Havins can act their way out of a paper bag? (Why are they so wooden?)
Could they make Jack any more of a wimp and Gwen any more AWESOME? Could Esther be the least intelligent CIA analyst on the planet? And for the love of Myfanwy, is Jack really going to sleep with Oswald the Pedo? Say it isn't so!
Stay tuned - for the LULZ.
On Friday, the 10pm telecast of Torchwood: Miracle Day averaged 636,000 viewers, up 4% from last week’s 609,000. The 11pm encore scored another 382,000, up from last week’s 367,000. So this week’s Friday episodes combined for 1.018 million viewers versus last week’s 976,000. 4% up is better than 4% down. I don’t have much demographic information (not that it really matters for premium cable channels anyway), but the 10pm telecast had a 0.2 rating with adults 18-49.
I guess those 9 hysterical womez tuned in for the 'Full Man on Man' Sex ( that's what JB called it) . Bad womenz! You were clearly told to go watch Supernatural if you wanted that kind of stuff. Here's what I don't get. We already know what's going on (can't die). Don't look at me! I didn't need to see more than the five minutes of That Scene I saw posted somewhere to be thoroughly reminded why I'm not watching that show. I wanted to kill Gwen and make everything better for Jack. I'd cheerfully take some retcon for that. CoE I want to remember so I can continue to avoided it. That Scene though I would cheerfully take back. x_x

It's official on GDL's website. That was him in the scenes from Warehouse 13.

To put things in perspective:
Camelot's third episode had 0.854 million viewers and a rating of 0.4 with the adults 18-49 as opposed to 1.125 million viewers and a 0.5 rating in the second.
And the only continued series Spartacus: Gods of the Arena managed to go from 1.136 million viewers and a 0.5 rating in the second episode to a 1.264 million viewers and a 0.6 rating in the third.
So, now, does anyone have any idea what sort of benefits Starz might get from the high viewing rates on BBC one? perhaps more DVD sales in the UK? although, Camelot was broadcast on Channel 4 as well, and those UK sales would've gone to Starz alone, while Miracle day will be shared with the BBC. But even so, those high ratings must bring in a lot of DVD cashy money? Well, sometime in 2010 Traffic Cops managed to get 4.2 million viewers and I'm going out on a limb here and guess that not many of those were inclined to buy the DVD...
And yes, I have no idea what we're supposed to be watching, maybe it's Rhys, sitting at home feeding his kid because he sure as hell isn't doing anything else these days...makes me wonder if this is what RTD meant when he said that ofcourse there'd be scenes in Wales and yeah Rhys was going to play an important part...so far, him and wales have been reduced to oh, say about 5 seconds per episode.
On another note: they could be spending all that time convincing the viewers that Jack's new lover with a goatee is just. That. More. Important. than Ianto.
Edited because I am just that nitpicky.

This confuses me no end. In an interview, JB said that we would see a relationship that made Jack 'who he is today'. In which case, as you said, more important than Ianto. But hang on, didn't Jack almost cast himself into oblivion for eternity because he missed Ianto so much? Didn't he specifically say, and I quote, "Ianto. All the people I've lost. Don't you understand? The only one I wanted to see was you!" Soooo, not goatee-man then. Confusing! Make your mind up Beeb.

Besides, 1, even 2 episodes of some unknown doesn't give enough time for character development or viewers to grow attached to the creep.

You know what, Torchwood and all it's characters belong to the BBC, Jack wasn't even made by Russell T davies. Heck the only thing Russell did for the characters was set up a very vague premises and killed them all. Chris Chibnall, Catherine Tregenna, the actors, etc. they brought the characters to life. So, for me, RTD is just playing in someone elses sandbox with MD, The BBC just okayed it for TV.
By the way, Doesn't the break the Jack scenes sound a bit like the break the Ianto scenes in CoE? yeah, dead man walking!

I'm actually glad I'm not watching, besides not having Ianto, what I've heard about Jack it would be painful to watch. Especially with Super Awesome Gwen dominating the show.

Which leaves me with the question of how involved the Beeb is in producing it. Did they pay for anything regarding Miracle day, or is it just a matter of 'here you go, it's licensed, you can play with our stuff as long as you pay for it and we get to broadcast it?

Not my kind of 'Man on Man', fortunately.

I have no problem with Jack looking for sex without romance or attachment but there's a bit a cruelty we haven't seen before. Even Jack at his most outragous is more flirty and persuasive than controlling. And remember, JB said this was a great scene full of 'romance.' Meh! (Remind anyone of the 'you're gonna see the relaitonship between J & I grow in CoE).
Is Jack so damaged from the loss of Ianto or (cue the sinister music) or did he do something even worse than get his whole team killed? Something that filled him with such self-loathing that he has to take it out on some stranger.
I'm betting he did. Bad Jack. You will have to die for this. You cannot continue to live in the same universe as WonderGwen. Buh-bye.

I could handle jack flirting his way to getting Brad into bed and them showing him wishing it was ianto (maybe by him accidentally moaning the wrong name) then either regretting it or maybe thinking that this is the beginning of accepting what happened in CoE. But for him to assert his dominance like that? That's NOT Jack! Not the Jack he became after meeting the Doctor and after all he'd been through.
As a non-Jack harkness fan, I'm pissed!!!

Ok, basically it was Jack's attitude. He was ok, kinda bleah, with the flirting. The 1 Night Stand Brad tried to be coy & cute when he made a 'coat joke' and jack got all O_O at that. Then it cuts to Rex and the doc lady then back to Nekkid Brad & Still Dressed Jack are sucking face then Jack asks about condoms. Brad is like 'duh, immortal' and Jack says something about regrets last longer (aka, STDs BAD!). Brad asks if Jack's calling the shots then Jack gets all pissy and says that yes he is. Brad starts to kneel (blow job most likely) and Jack puts his hands on his shoulders and PUSHES Brad down in a way that WASN'T sexy or anything. And the look on his face... Had he acted so dominating & cold with Ianto, if he'd had that "I'm Cap Jack & I'm in charge here so get over it" look on his face, Ianto would have walked away. It just ticked me off how a scene that was supposed to be sexy & passionate was really Jack basically insisting on Brad pleasuring HIM.

And yes - Jack will be a lying liar who lies by the end of this. He already a wimp, and a whiner. And he will also have done something even worse than giving the children away in the 1960s and killing his grandson.
Jack is a dead duck.

Re: Some spoilers!!!
Quite frankly, Jack sleeping with the Pedo would be whole new level of messed up and a kick in the teeth to him saving all the kiddies on earth. Where did you get this rumor? it seems outlandish, even for RTD

Gwen = Rex - Am I the only one to see a resemblance?
I was just thinking about the two characters, and realized that they're twins in a lot of ways:
Self-centered
Inconsiderate of others feelings
Go off half-cocked, without adequate research
Think their way is the right way
Get special privileges their characters shouldn't be qualified for
Does anyone else see the resemblance?

I forgot to add "Shouty" to my list, above, and someone else mentioned that in spite of all that, they've still got devoted friends!
