I got the TV WEEK [it a TV Guide in Australia] and it had Eve Myles saying "Diehard fans will find everything they love about Torchwood" and her favourite episode is when Gwen and Jack are stuck in a car and everything come out - their past, how they feel...Lots of stuff gets answered and their still the tension between Gwen and the swashbuckling Captain Jack Harkness this made me sick

“She was the heart that was brought into the organisation and I always think that Gwen and Jack teach each other constantly throughout all of the series and continue to do in this one…”
"She taught him how to have a bit more heart, a bit more humility, to care about humanity".
"They’ve got this unspoken, strange, love and respect and what one fails in, the other one exceeds in".
"They like each other. They make each other laugh. And as complicated as Jack is, she’s fascinated by him. Why wouldn’t she be? And he’s fascinated in her heart and her way with people and with humanity. And I think the essence of these two very, very strange people from a very strange place come together and work incredibly well together.”
“It’s more than romance, it’s more than love, it’s more than a sexual love between Jack and Gwen. It’s a love of the person rather than a love of what they can do for them, that kind of thing.”
"They adore each other’s company and just can’t live without each other being in each other’s lives, because they help each other and they enjoy each other.”
I don't know why they just wouldn't say that Gwen taught Jack everything he knows and be done with it.

For a thorough snark of these comments I happily refer you to Weis07's journal.

By the by, listening to and reading various MD interviews, it's weird how everyone keeps heaping praise on CoE. Everyone. Surely, not all of the new folks, like, equally adored it? Strats sounding to me the same as the 'Gwen = heart of Torchwood' line: something they must be contractually obligated to say. (Better that than the brainwashing theory.)

long live google!
It is very funny to have the kids booing at them, even the kiddies know Torchwood sucks. But it's also less than impressive and true to RTD's style: a washed down failed work of plagiarism. The Zombies did it better, Anonymous made more impact, the 'soulless' were simply annoying!

I don't think I've ever seen a bigger Mary Sue anywhere, even in fandom and written by teenage girls. Difference is most young fans outgrow the need for Mary Sues as they improve in their writing skills.
I want to 'thank' RTD and Eve and all the TPTB who adore Gwen for totally destroying Janto for me. I simply cannot respect a character who is so smitten with a character who has such selfish, negative traits. There is clearly no room for Ianto with such all encompassing Gwen devotion. I don't even want him back on the show, and if he was I'd want him to break up with Jack. I am still interested in the fascinating and slightly mysterious Mr. Jones, but I want him to have someone he deserves. Perhaps he and Rhys can get together, since they both get trampled under the Gwack train. Maybe they can take Arwen far away and build a life together. It'd be great to see a fic where Rhys leaves Gwen and sues for custody of his daughter to keep her safe from harm (not sure about the laws in UK re: divorce/child custody). Sorry but Gwen and Jack can have each other.

Is Eve quite sane, I wonder, or has RTD's influence somehow damaged her brain? What she said is so far divorced from reality as I know it it sounds like the ramblings of someone slightly demented.
How do 2 adults get locked in a car? Why are they just sitting there having seriously talks and not trying to get out? Why is RTD still called a great writer? Why is the moon called the moon? Oh sorry, the general insanity of all this has got too me.
Back to reality. I have to feed some of my brood.
