I got the TV WEEK [it a TV Guide in Australia] and it had Eve Myles saying "Diehard fans will find everything they love about Torchwood" and her favourite episode is when Gwen and Jack are stuck in a car and everything come out - their past, how they feel...Lots of stuff gets answered and their still the tension between Gwen and the swashbuckling Captain Jack Harkness this made me sick

Jack and Gwen + stuck in a car + talking about their "feelings" = not enough therapists in the world to overcome this trauma.

I believe that it's from Torchwood: Miracle Day Q&A panel. There were interesting things said there. Like these:

“She was the heart that was brought into the organisation and I always think that Gwen and Jack teach each other constantly throughout all of the series and continue to do in this one…”

"She taught him how to have a bit more heart, a bit more humility, to care about humanity".

"They’ve got this unspoken, strange, love and respect and what one fails in, the other one exceeds in".

"They like each other. They make each other laugh. And as complicated as Jack is, she’s fascinated by him. Why wouldn’t she be? And he’s fascinated in her heart and her way with people and with humanity. And I think the essence of these two very, very strange people from a very strange place come together and work incredibly well together.”

“It’s more than romance, it’s more than love, it’s more than a sexual love between Jack and Gwen. It’s a love of the person rather than a love of what they can do for them, that kind of thing.”

"They adore each other’s company and just can’t live without each other being in each other’s lives, because they help each other and they enjoy each other.”

I don't know why they just wouldn't say that Gwen taught Jack everything he knows and be done with it.

I've stopped taking Torchwood seriously, with it having people who are just interested in making money instead of making real characters, realistic relationships, good plotlines and creating a worthwhile viewer experience.

For a thorough snark of these comments I happily refer you to Weis07's journal.

That is the most nauseating thing I've ever heard. Bashing Gwen is one of my favorite passtimes, but I think I need to step away from the internet until Miracle bomb bombs, for the sake of my blood pressure.

Oh, yes, I heard that one about humility. Am still at a loss as to how 'Gwen' and 'humility' even ended up in the same sentence.

By the by, listening to and reading various MD interviews, it's weird how everyone keeps heaping praise on CoE. Everyone. Surely, not all of the new folks, like, equally adored it? Strats sounding to me the same as the 'Gwen = heart of Torchwood' line: something they must be contractually obligated to say. (Better that than the brainwashing theory.)

Yes, I read an interview with MP and some of the others, they are so happy happy happy there and they WUV torchwood and they WUV RTD! yeah, it's to scripted, you know most people would say, sure I reallly like working here, yeah it's cool. But I LOVE working here, I LOVE RTD, I LOVE the old series...it's just a bit too much isn't it?

Reading this made me think "So what about Rhys?" Just shows me how selfish Gwen is. Seriously why don't they just make them get together and let Rhys be or something because Rhys deserves better. The more I hear about MD the more just makes me upset and wondering was I watching the same show?

Can someone hand me a sink please, I need to vomit. I bet she really believes the crap she's talking. Stupid women. Never liked her but she now upgrades to hate her. and that goes for Gwen as much as Eve.

Here. Have an entire metropolitan sewer system. It sounds like you'll need it.

one of these days i will learn how to post a link. just saw on facebook a link to the washington post with a story about a starz torchwood pr stunt that left the good folk of washington less then impressed with the walking 'soulless'. i admit my favorite parts are the school children giving the thumbs down and the soulless handing out stress balls with the starz and torchwood logos.
so this is the vision of 'serious drama' that rusty sold to starz?

long live google!

It is very funny to have the kids booing at them, even the kiddies know Torchwood sucks. But it's also less than impressive and true to RTD's style: a washed down failed work of plagiarism. The Zombies did it better, Anonymous made more impact, the 'soulless' were simply annoying!

That's hilarious! They really are doing everything to generate a buzz and all they are getting is a big thumbs down.

Um, no. Everything I love about Torchwood is gone.

I feel bad for John. He loves playing Captain Jack, and it has all just been destroyed even as he does his job. I honestly think that people who make tv don't have a clue about what viewers really care about. Not the actors, but those dipwads who are called 'showrunners', and writers. I quit my cable several months ago, and now I don't even plug the tv in anymore. Why watch something and get involved, only to have it cancelled after a few eps, or be given the 'RTD showrunner of doom' approach? I'll stick to fan fiction, thank you.

So, let me get this straight: Jack who's lived on Earth for a couple of centuries, comes from another planet far away, as a time agent was probably many planets many times... Jack who was the Doctor's companion and travelled in the Tardis -- and the most awesome special important wonderful lovely person he's ever known is Gwen. Right, of course. Makes perfect sense.

I don't think I've ever seen a bigger Mary Sue anywhere, even in fandom and written by teenage girls. Difference is most young fans outgrow the need for Mary Sues as they improve in their writing skills.

I want to 'thank' RTD and Eve and all the TPTB who adore Gwen for totally destroying Janto for me. I simply cannot respect a character who is so smitten with a character who has such selfish, negative traits. There is clearly no room for Ianto with such all encompassing Gwen devotion. I don't even want him back on the show, and if he was I'd want him to break up with Jack. I am still interested in the fascinating and slightly mysterious Mr. Jones, but I want him to have someone he deserves. Perhaps he and Rhys can get together, since they both get trampled under the Gwack train. Maybe they can take Arwen far away and build a life together. It'd be great to see a fic where Rhys leaves Gwen and sues for custody of his daughter to keep her safe from harm (not sure about the laws in UK re: divorce/child custody). Sorry but Gwen and Jack can have each other.

*patpat* Don't be so sad! You see, this pathetic caricature isn't Jack at all. It's a clone without the original's memories, wearing the same name. The true Jack, plus the rest of the team, have fled to an alternate dimension from the Gwenninator.

i am just having fun with three reviews boston herald one NYtimes & in Washington school children booed them.. loving it.. & Gwen & Jack locked in a car.. pass me the bucket, feeling sick..

From: [identity profile] kamiandcat.livejournal.com

You know in Gwen's case I'm not surprised, I mean she'll probably try to tell the car how awesome she is and how wrong the car is and that it has to let her out....what as far as I remember she NEVER came up with anything smart and helpful anyway.

LOL...That answers the question of who is responsible for no one dying....Stewie has finally taken over the world...

I have heard some rubbish in my life but this is above rubbish. I don't know an English word for it but I can think of quite a few lovely German ones, most of them rude.

Is Eve quite sane, I wonder, or has RTD's influence somehow damaged her brain? What she said is so far divorced from reality as I know it it sounds like the ramblings of someone slightly demented.

How do 2 adults get locked in a car? Why are they just sitting there having seriously talks and not trying to get out? Why is RTD still called a great writer? Why is the moon called the moon? Oh sorry, the general insanity of all this has got too me.

Back to reality. I have to feed some of my brood.

From: [identity profile] kamiandcat.livejournal.com

You know this reminds me of Cyberwoman and Lisa's idea of perfect love.... the "my brain in your body" thing. Maybe RTD has finally managed to get as close as possible to his beloved Gwennie-Poo by transplanting his brain into EMs head???
