I don't think it's really in the US; it's a UK TV listing magazine. I'm told it has Rhys's surname as Cooper in the cast list.

Oh that's just low...I mean, I know Rory took Amy's last name, but that was unofficial and Amy is also referred to as Mrs. Williams. Normally, I have no probs with guy taking the wife's name, or the other way around, or both keeping their own. But somehow, this just feels like putting him down, like they're not going to mention it in the show. It's all hush hush to make sure that GWEN BLOODY COOPER is the lead while making it seem like she's the good american housewife by taking the hubby's name...

Went to see Transformers 3 today. There was an ad for the Starz Original Series Torchwood: Miracle Day. If it wasn't for Gwen and Jack it might actually be good. Of course they always show the scenes in the ads.

I saw a commerical / ad for Torchwood on USA network and I heard about it on the radio. I thought the radio one was silly (I think Phifer says something and it just sound silly). I'm surprise and sad to see this many ads for a show that had such great potential. :/

That's what I keep thinking as well. Really, this Torchwood seems to be going to way of Torchwood One, and as far as I recall, the Doctor really wasn't too fond of them (bit of an understatement, I admit ;)). So if Jack is still trying to make Torchwood something the Doctor would be proud of, he's taken the wrong turn somewhere along the line...

That just makes me sick...I like to believe that people are smarter than to just go by appearances, sure, guy may seem like a nice person, BUT WE KNOW HE KILLED AND RAPED A CHILD, That man had sex with someone's baby!!

I don't care that it's not real, sensationalising paedophiles like that is not cool. Fine they're people, fine, I can see that on some level it might be in their nature to want children, but wanting and actually doing it is a whole differen kettle of fish. You don't HAVE to demonize them, but popularizing them, NOT COOL, especially if the focus of the story is on three other places.

That's why his whole rise to fame is so unbelievable, about as believable as every government in the world giving up 10% of the children...

The whole thing with the pedophile has me deeply disturbed and underscores what a sick world we live in. No, it's not real but it's equally sick that anyone would find it good entertainment. Also I can't help thinking about the very real possibility that there could be molesters in the viewing audience watching this crap -- wow, we're so popular and famous, and see -- likeable! Could it even motivate one to go out and grab a child? I firmly believe in free speech and the rights of artists to express themselves... but as I've said elsewhere, RTD has crossed a line IMHO. Actually disgusted on the whole by TW's recent obsession with plots about harming children, COE was full of it and now this...
Sad also that all the cast members/writers/etc. apparently think this is wonderful TV and not one chose to speak out against it. Sorry to say I don't have much respect for anyone involved in TW these days. Just my opinions.

Was just watching one of those real life crime shows last night, where a pedo had kidnapped two young boys (luckily in this case he didn't kill them). He said he'd realized his sexual attraction to children by about age 13, and he managed to resist doing anything about it for many years... but as is usual for them, he was unable to overcome his compulsion. It may be a mental illness, but they need to be locked away not turned likeable.

An acting pedophile needs to be locked up, but we really don't know how many of them never act on their urges. If they don't act on it, we shouldn't lock them up, they haven't done anything wrong yet.

Ofcourse I understand the other side of it being a ticking bomb in some ways, but you can't lock someone away for something they might never do. Just...minority report.

The man in question had tons of child porn on his computer. That is a crime in the US by itself, whether they actually hurt a child or not. Of course I didn't mean they should be locked up if they didn't do anything, but I'll be honest I wouldn't let a child of mine anywhere near them and yeah, I'd feel more comfortable with them locked up. Sorry, it's not a topic I can discuss unemotionally, so I'd better continue trying to pretend Miracle Day doesn't exist.

I agree, it is a very heavy subject, which is why that crapshack writer of an RTD needs to stay the hell away from it. This sorta thing needs to be handled with care and prudence and Torchwood isn't for that!

I have to say, I was wondering if that pic was Gwen all "improved" for Hollywood (haven't watched any promos, don't intend to). I figured they'd have to do a lot of work to look fake enough, was even wondering if they made Eve fix her teeth. TBH as much as I hate Gwen, I would have had more respect for them all if they left her normal human being looks alone, but I suppose the US audience would never love her the best if they did that. The thing I love most about watching UK shows is that everyone looks real not perfect. This is just another example of how they sold out the integrity of the show for Hollywood.

But wow, at least in this pic Jack gets to be next to her, even a bit in front rather than relegated to the background.

The only actress I can think of that had a gap in her teeth and nearly everyone thought it was sexy was Lauren Hutton and that was back in the late 70s, early 80s. And she was a model first. I'm not aware of anyone else who has not had their teeth/mouth fixed.

By the way... over here in the UK, although the BBC has been showing teensy-weensy clips of MD in their ads for ALL of the late summer 'up and coming shows', they've only just started to show ads for MD alone... which is odd. I'm usually bored of a show before it even starts after 2 months of trailers.
I wish it was because there was a 'big secret' (you all know what I mean...) behind it all, but I fear not.

For those of you tempted to watch, can I ask you not to boost ratings out of mere curiosity but to watch through other means- if you find you like it you can always boost the ratings then......and leave here before you are lynched....joke, that was a joke!
