Speaking about his possible departure from sci-fi RTD mentioned that - “I've got one more story that I can tell – just one more that has Gwen right at the centre of it – that would be fantastic” (interview to the guardian.co.uk).
One MORE, Russel? Nice slip.
So, he finally admitted that all previous stories were not about Torchwood, the team, the “drama” or human nature, but about his beloved Gwen at the center. I guess now we know who #1 of the cast is.
I hope that “story” he mentioned is MD and not hypothetical 5th season.

Whole of this can be found here:

I find his having a one night stand with a man depressing also. It seems to be reinforcing, yet again, the idea that gay men, {and Jack seems to have become gay in this} are mostly promiscuous when everyone knows that promiscuity is wide spread among heterosexual men.
Seriously awful this, when they had the money to produce something awesome and meaningful we just get the usual RTD shit. What a pity.

I've always disliked Mary Sues in fanfic, and having them in canon is worse. TBH I'm sorry I ever heard of Torchwood, and wish I'd never watched any of it. Sadly I found out after I'd watched that it was all about Gwen, silly me I thought Jack was the star and it was about the team.

he's gonna bite it...let's take a specific part out of that aforementioned interview. Aside from the fact that JB said he'd LOVE to do another four series and a goddamn movie (pfff, really, who do you think you are? Captain Malcolm Reynolds?)
there was this:
Do you see an end to Torchwood?
JB: Well obviously, there will be an end to it at some point, but you know, I’m not ready for it to end. Touch wood, what I’d love to have happen is we do four or five more series, keep going strong, and then finish, and then maybe a year after, do a movie. I don’t know what I’ll look like, you know…
AE: Playing an immortal can be a drag.
JB: Exactly! I am gonna get older, so we have to figure something out. But I would be happy – although I do other entertainment stuff, I do other TV shows, I do books with my sister for young teenagers, I’ve got my music –
yeah, he's a goner alright...
One thing that I love about Torchwood, and that I love about Jack and Gwen and what we do with this – we go to the areas that other shows won’t go to, and we raise those issues and questions
what, you mean like supernatural? or family guy?...
a lot of people working on the crew thought we were a new show, and someone said, “Oh yeah, working on this show is tough because of blahblahblah,” and I said, “Dude, I’ve been working on this show – this is my fourth series.” And he went, “Really?”
I can wager a guess as to why it's hard to work on the show...it starts with an R and ends with Ussell T. Davies.
It’s very interesting when I talk to people about the passion of sci-fi fans and the passion of musical theater fans; some can use the word “obsessive,” but I have no problem with that
which is why he told us all to get over it...
There’s no heroes out there where the men [who play them] are openly gay
He's called Ian mcKellen, Go watch X-men and LOTR please.

JB really said that? Because, dude, that is a sure sign of Torchwood immense popularity! ;P

Also, the guy who said that wins the internet for bringing the reality back to these airheads.

that ianto/tosh/owen/myfanwy/janet/suzie ...yes I believe you right about the inexplicably now mortal Jack...so what story has Gwen in the middle of? Rhys dies and Gwen shacks up with Rex AKA the straight version of Jack Rex goes into politics becomes president Gwen cant she isn't US born but in a surprise move they repeal that provision and after 8 years of Rex Gwen is elected and because of her awesome self she later declares herself as ruler of the world

One more story with Gwen at the heart of the show. Hmf! As if she already wasn't at the centre, left and right of the show.
RTD sold us TW as the Jack's show, but in reality Jack/JB have just been used as bait to attract viewers for the "Gwen usless Cooper" show since the beginning.

The next person who tells me that that's what actors do should have a good look at the amount of actors who became producers in their series after a little while.
Holly Marie Combs in Charmed
Elisa Dushku in Dollhouse
David Boreanaz in Bones
And yeah, I get that some people just don't like that, fine, but I don't think I've ever heard another actor say that he's just there to read the lines...it just sounds a little lazy.
Edited because it is really difficult to put the D and the B of IMDB in the right order

Though I actually liked the new guy Mitchell, sure he was no O'neill, but he did good in his own way. It was Vala that I didn't dig.
I think that both Richard Dean Anderson and Michael Shanks practically carried the entire show with their characters (not that I didn't love Teal'c or Sam) and all four mains either produced or wrote parts of the show!See JB, RTD, this is what teamwork looks like and why you don't split up the magical duo of your show!
