thought this would amuse you while looking for new torchwood stories at fanfiction net a ad popped up for torchwood with the title "the ianto jones show" in boldface and underlined. which makes me wonder has someone broke the news to gwen about the hit british drama coming to america starring the dead teaboy?

I got the same ad when I googled 'eyeglasses GDL' the other day:

(I also googled 'Toshiko Sato for the LULZ and this did not come up).

How clueless do they have to be to want their ad to link with anyone looking for info on Iato or GDL. As we said when I was a teen - gag me with a spoon. And yes, you may steal the GLD pic, but I'm using the bunny slippers in a story cause I saw the first, LOL.

So wait a minute... I'm confused. Does this mean that Starz is using Gareth's name in ads to promote MD?? That's dispicable. (and is it even legal?). They must be really terrified that Gwenwood is going to fail.

Its tacky to say the least. Its certainly legal. Ads are often placed based on key words you google. But having Ianto and Gareth David Lloyd as key words is rather pathetic.

I have said from the beginning that I don't think that this is going to be a huge draw for Starz. They've already reversed themselves on making Netflix downloads available at the same time as airing (guessing they didn't get the subscription they hoped for) and now its going to be delayed by a week in the UK (guessing to avoid downloads off of BBC).

Now what defines a success to Starz is anyone's guess, but I wouldn't be surprised if RTD and BBC sold them with the large viewership numbers from BBCA from CoE. It will be interesting to see if the numbers are anywhere near as large in the US.

To me there is a serious difference between watching TW on BBCA which I got with my regular cable than paying an extra 10 bucks a month to watch Gwenwood on Starz...I've only paid to get an extra channel once and that was Showtime to see Queer as Folk, but Showtime had other things on it that I wanted to see, unlike Starz...then again, maybe RTD thought he was like an old fashioned drug dealer...give the customer the stuff for free first and then, once you got them hooked, make em pay for their fix...unfortunately for him and Starz, he gave us the good stuff for free and we don't want to pay for the crap
