Hello
I'm aware this probably isn't the proper site for this but I just thought I'd let you all know Elisabeth Sladen who played Sarah Jane Smith died last night aged 67. Apparently she had been battling cancer for a while.

I'm sure you will all join me in sending condolences and love to her family.

Um, 63, actually. Way too young. What's with the cancer?! No words for how terrible this is. =(

I wonder what does will mean for the BBC. Will they look out for another DW-spinn-off in eh future? If they are smart they are making one with Ianto. But I doubt they are.

I had no idea she had cancer. You'd have never thought it if you seen her on TV. Woke up this morning and was watching Newsround at 5 to eight and the newsreader said Lis had died and just couldn't believe it. I dedicated my AS Drama performance to her today. RIP Elisabeth, you'll never be forgotten

Adored her, since the beginning.
She was 63, not 67, btw.

I look at Sarah Jane, and I look at Gwen, and have to shake my head at the difference between the two characters.

Just look at the outpourings for Lis/Sarah Jane. One charity collection in her memory at Just Giving (http://www.justgiving.com/inmemoryofelisabethsladen) has collected nearly 4000 GBP between the time this donation account was set up on Tuesday and noon (Central) on Friday - and donations are still coming in. (The fans who set it up were hoping they'd be able to collect 150 GBP to donate to Cancer Research UK. They surpassed that goal in the first two hours, and collected 1000 GBP in the first 12 hours.)

Somehow I don't think Gwen/Eve would get the same results (NOT that I'm wishing any ill luck to Eve AT ALL.)

I do not think anyone would wish such a thing on their worst enemy- I would wish it on the character, but not the real person, and, anyway, we can all think of far more imaginative ways for Gwen to meet her end, and with far less dignity.
I was gutted by this, I have to say, almost devastated, even. I only knew her through her work and yet, I felt I knew her a little.
Whoever said life was fair?
