I found some of the comments on this blog very interesting.  The writer asked why Ianto is so  popular amongst fans and also why Gwen is so disliked.

Anyone can comment and the writer has said

"I will be providing a link to BBC, the producers & affiliates of Torchwood to this forum. Perhaps, this will help to make some some much needed changes."

So here is your chance to tell the BBC why you think that Torchwood is not, and never should be, Gwenwood.  OK, they probably won't listen, but you never know.......

If nothing else, go enjoy the Gwen bashing!

Well, until the moron formerly known as Awix turned up it was quite useful- people were not necessarily saying they could not stand Gwen, just that she's was not interesting in any way shape or form, which I liked a lot- nothing better than a well stated, under stated, insult!

Actually, despite being annoying, he was pretty well-spoken, gave arguments as to why he disagreed and didn't resort to insulting, a snarky comment here and there, but not the usual "piss off and get over it" without any reasoning.

So...while not agreeing with him in the slightest and finding him somewhat irritating, I don't think he was Moron. If more Gwen-fans on the net were like this, and would accept the challenge of a good discussion, we'd actually be able to talk about our dislike for the character on the regular forums.

he Could be a she, but I'm to lazy to write he/she everytime

At the beginning, yes, they were lucid, and the arguments were quite valid, in fact it took me a long time to realise that they were actually against the "demise of TW" idea. Then they started twisting information in order to make a point (suggesting that, against the 5.9 million that watched there were only 851 people[in spite of the tally standing at 1012 at the time of their speaking] against disliking the outcome. This smacks of the "nine hysterical women" line, to me) Then they put up an interview with GDL in which he is supposed to say he did not want to work on TW and had been happy to leave etc. A number of people read the interview and could find nothing that backed up this statement, but they would not discuss it, just continue to site it as evidence. No, sorry, I'll stick to "Moron" but I would settle for "Troll"
We really should be more careful about feeding the trolls, though.....

Have to agree with Kassy2 ,she (I'm pretty sure it's a she because I discussed exactly the same stuff with someone over at FB and she uses the same words etc) had good points that I don't agree with but can accept first, but then she started to twist the truth.

Yeah, that could very well be true, I know I read the first couple of comments with full attention, after that it just gets sort of blurry, I read them, but the entire thing just doesn't stick. I'll go with you on the troll thing.

Nasty little buggers those trolls, where is Prince Terrien when you need him.

what they don't point out are the number of dvds sold for coe or the fact that unlike the first 2 seasons or dr who coe is not being rerun constantly. they chose to ignore the fact that the polls show a constant lack of interest in gwenwood and that the majority of viewers cite that only way they would watch torchwood would be to bring back ianto( for me also tosh/owen/suzie) or the fact gwen is at the bottom of every fan poll. the fact the torchwood magazine died for lack of interest in gwen or the fact that to sell the last issue they had to put the dead guy on the cover says it all. they forget the most important fact that fans brought back and saved star trek, roswell and that lack of hard core fans will kill a show.

You know I can give you a long list of people (friends, family, co-workers) who wouldn't call themselves "fans" of Torchwood, but who watch it if it's on and their is nothing better. And nobody of them likes Gwen (or any of the spoilers for MD I've told them about).

Whenever someone points out that fans really don't matter I always like to think about Firefly. The series that got canceled after 14 episodes and then managed to get a movie made because the fans were so crazy about it.

By the way, what are the DVD-sales for CoE like, I'm curious.

firefly, roswell, star trek are just a few of the shows that fans saved. does anyone remember the penny campaign launched to save the sci fi show roswell? the letter campaign to bring daniel back to life on star gate?

Same on Amazon, and i bought the more expensive one (BD Gift for my bro), just to make a point. ;)

I'm not an expert with charts and ratings but according to this site

http://www.the-numbers.com/dvd/charts/weekly/2009/20090802.php

CoE DVD sold (in the US) 41,542 units. Upon browsing through the same site it appears CoE selling rates just disappeared right the very next week. So the 41,xxx units seem to be the whole amount of the sales and that's that. Again, I'm not too sure about how it works so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but since there's no mention of CoE in the charts following the August 2nd 2009 one I guess the only logical conclusion is that it fell off.

Farscape, is another one. Because of the fans' actions, a mini-series was made to wrap up the series. Brian Henson still says it wouldn't have been made without the fans continuing to promote the show. (Farscape was a Henson creation, to show what they could do other than Muppety-type things.)

As far as the DVD sales, I cancelled my pre-order because COE wasn't Torchwood, or anything I'd want to watch again.

And we thank you for it, Mr. Henson.
