Because the writers seem determined to put Jack and Gwen together we should start a Rhys/Ianto death pool. I'm actually surprised that they have lived as long as they have. I'm thinking they'll kill Rhys off in the last episode of Series 2 (saving Gwen, of course) which will make it the biggest story arch of Series 3. Oh the angst (of the fandom, not Gwen).
Poor Ianto, will be swiftly killed off in the first episode of the Series. Of course whilst Gwen's 'grieving' for Rhys she'll fall into Jack's arms, because that is just the kind of caring person she is *rolls eyes*. Jack will realize that Gwen is his one true love and Ianto won't be mentioned again.
I'd love to know what everyone else thinks.

Because if Gwack becomes reality, the entire focus of the show will change and it will become the Jack/Gwen show....

Because if Gwack becomes reality, the entire focus of the show will change and it will become the Jack/Gwen show.... It'll be like series 1, only worse. But really what else can they do, the writers seem determined to put them together. Although I still don't see it from Jack's side. I think he respects Rhys/Gwen's 'normal' relationship too much (more then Gwen does). Which is why they'll pretty much have to kill off Rhys.

Or that could just be my delusional rambling...

'Belief is that he spent that year with the memory of his team to keep him sane, and he's come back to find so much has changed, and it hurts and scares him and he's fighting to keep hold of them.' I really see that happening. He does seem very clingy, not that I can blame him.
'Or that could just be my delusional rambling...' I think the only ones delusional are writers. Can't they see what I horrible idea Gwack is?

oh lord you don't really want to know what I think of this speculation! *head in barf bucket*
luckily Ianto (Gareth) has great support via the production crew and among the fans - hell we know the lag behind the writing/filming compared to the broadcast - the writers/producers loved Ianto and Gareth's portrayal of the character from the get-go -- I serious doubt they would get rid of Ianto without some other outside provocation
also it seems as though the main person in the production offices that embraces Gwack is Chris Chibnall - Russell and Julie need to get their acts together and yank Chibnall's head out of his arse
from watching series two so far it does not appear that John is 'buying' the whole Gwack shipperness - every time there is supposed to be one of "those special moments" btwn them John's performance comes across as tentative, stilted and uncertain
Russell and company also seem to really love Rhys (Kai) and made a huge deal about making certain he knew that when Rhys was killed in the series one finale that it was permanent - so I can't quite envision them suddenly deciding Rhys should be gotten rid of to make way for Gwack (*cough cough* sorry something caught in my throat)
*if* there was some huge shake up in the TW cast - the ONLY one that would guarantee my departure from the audience would be the departure of Jack (John Barrowman) -- I might continue to watch if we lost Ianto - though I would NOT be a happy camper -- and frankly the loss of Rhys wouldn't really affect my viewing all that much
hell we've already withstood the rumours surrounding series two and the death of a TW teammate and now we've had this happen - though not in they most would've envisioned - so who know what Russell and company have in store for future series

The only reason I'm thinking that Rhys will be killed off is because Eve said in an interview that Gwen ends Series 2 broken. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

eh - personally I take what is said in interviews with a definite grain of salt - the actors by the end of filming do indeed know much of what is to happen but they are also under certain restrictions as to how much can be revealed and teased about - frankly I'd love to see Gwen broken and that would be finding out that she is not the be all end all of all things in the universe and that Jack doesn't love her the way she thinks she loves him
hell maybe it just means that FINALLY Gwen has to suffer the consequences of her actions - cause it still peeves me to no end that everyone else has had to suffer the consequences of their actions and those of others EXCEPT for Gwen - she lies to Rhys, she has an affair, she retcons Rhys, she betrays Jack, etc. and still all and all she ends up with a very much alive Rhys and still a part of TW - grrrrrrrr

'everyone else has had to suffer the consequences of their actions and those of others EXCEPT for Gwen' She does seem like a Mary-Sue, doesn't she.
