All I can say is, it's pretty bad when even the Captain admits that her only job at Torchwood is to be taken hostage. Can you say Mary-Sue?

If only this was cannon. Unfortunately, in the actual program Jack is very enthusiastic about Gwen and is shown to be constantly concerned about her and keeping her in the team. Even though this is illogical.

'If only this was cannon.' Yes, if only. Plus since the person who writes it *always* has Jack make at least some reference to Ianto, we'd get more Jack/Ianto love too.

'Even though this is illogical.' Yeah. I think her official job is police liaison or alien profiler, which both seem very dodgey to me (it's like the writer's didn't even try to give her a real job at Torchwood).
