From poster at TWOP who has seen the Episode
Ok, so the episode involves Rhys finding out about Torchwood. He follows them to where they're investigating but then they see him talking to the men involved (who are actually threatening him, but they assume he is in on the plot). Gwen wants to run over to him, but Jack sort of throws himself on her, up against a wall, and holds her back while having a very intense conversation, which is framed exactly like a sexy scene. Later, Rhys is naturally angry about having been lied to by Gwen and one of the first things he says is "that bloke [Jack], are you ****ing him?" - Gwen looks shocked. Rhys is brought to the Hub and shown around and ends up being brought in on the plan to stop the alien meat. Gwen is very much against this as she thinks it's too dangerous for him - Rhys is very much not standing for her crap anymore. Jack wants to help the alien creature, Gwen says "so you do have a heart" which seems to be significant (?). Rhys jokes about all the "good-looking young men around here" and she kisses him in reassurance, only to open her eyes and look directly at Jack, who is staring wistfully at them. Later Rhys raves about how amazing Gwen is to Jack, who looks sort of wistful again and says how much they need her. Torchwood goes in to save the alien, stuff happens, Rhys throws himself in front of a bullet for Gwen but survives (thank goodness, I was convinced at that point he was going to be killed off). Owen treats him and there is nothing to suggest, you know, that Owen might feel guilty or anything towards Rhys. Later, Gwen is supposed to retcon him but he is so enthusiastic and amazed about what they have been through and what's out there, that she storms back to the Hub and tells them all she's not doing it, just because they all have lonely lives they don't understand, Rhys was so brave and loves her so she'd rather quit than take that away from him. Jack again gets all up in her space and says how could she go back to her old life, she says she wouldn't know any difference (retcon), he says "But I would". They look at each other very intensely for ages then he agrees, looking very upset. He returns to his office and watches the CCTV of Gwen going outside and kissing Rhys passionately, while looking extremely sad.
Just copied this from another site. It is about the episode "Meat." I am up with the baby, in case anyone wonders. I am typing with one hand and rocking him with the other. I find this summery very depressing. It seems that we are eventually going to get Jack and Gwen whether we all like it or not. I have decided not to watch this episode anyhow. I am not interested in Rhys except as someone to get Gwen away from Jack and I don't want to watch an episode about him.
Also it seems all the writers have changed the characters and forgotten what they wrote last season. everyone has changed from Jack down. I think it is sloppy writing and rotten continuity and I hate to say it but if this is the type of story we are going to get for the rest of the season I hope the program is a complete ratings flop and gets cancelled.
This is very disappointing as I had high hopes for this season but it was all for nothing it seems. We are obviously going to get Jack and Gwen and anyhow it is illogical all this misty eyed rubbish about how wonderful Gwen is and someone with Jack's experience would have, in reality, dismissed her in season one. I can't stand all this shit about wonderful, sympathetic, irreplaceable Gwen and her fat boring boyfriend. Why don't they just get rid most of the cast and make The Adventures of Holy Gwen and have done with it? This is all that fucker RTD's fault. I wish he would retire and just go away someplace.

I've always said that if they kill off Ianto just to put Jack and Gwen together that will be the last episode I will ever watch. It would be a huge disservice to the character of Ianto, to make him nothing more then a Jack/Gwen stumbling block.

If they killed him permanently then I'd likely quit watching as well.
That said, given the way TPTB have so dramatically increased his screentime, I can't see them suddenly getting rid of GDL, so i'm optomistic about the prospect of Ianto's survival.

So it's back to the 'Gwen is so wonderful and can do no wrong show' (rolls eyes)
Ah well, it was a nice two episodes up to now.

Really hope Jack keeps it in his pants in regards to Gwen, but with RTD, Torchwood will go from being 10 minutes long to about 2..*big sigh*

WTF are the writers thinking?

make you feel any better? I doubt it's any more canon than the books, but it's soothing to pretend.
I like the Captain's blog, it makes the sudden stopwatch scene in They Keep Killing Suzie make sense! Assuming you read all the entries up to that one.

Why, why, why do they keep pushing Gwack? Better yet, why do they keep pushing Gwen full-stop?
I don't care what the writers say, I will NEVER buy that Jack is in love with her.

Agreed. Maybe the reason he's looking wistfully at Gwen/Rhys is because now that he's met him, he fancies the arse off Rhys but feels that he can't betray Gwen. (not that she'd have a problem betraying Ianto by jumping Jack, but Jack is the better person I'm sure we'll all agree)

(not that she'd have a problem betraying Ianto by jumping Jack, but Jack is the better person I'm sure we'll all agree) If Jack ever gave her the opportunity she would so betray Ianto, because that is just the kind of caring, compassionate person she is *note the sarcasm*

Even though the problem is most likely just too many writers who can't agree on continuity.... *sigh* *big sigh*
