This site has a piece of the new season of Torchwood and on page 2 we get parts of an interview with Eve Myles.
Here are some interesting bits of it:
“The series opens with Gwen in charge while Captain Jack has been away and it’s been up to her to keep the team together and ticking over with work,” Eve explains. “She’s still the same old Gwen, still the nucleus of the team."------er----really? The nucleus of the team--how ever did they manage for ages before she arrived I wonder?
And it’s Gwen’s dynamic sex appeal alongside the charismatic Captain Jack which has helped to give the show its slightly more adult edge than Doctor Who, making it perfect for the post-watershed slot. She clearly enjoys playing the compassionate Gwen Cooper-----yes, Gwen is very compassionate--to Rhys in particular whom she claims to love.
I wont bother you all with any more of this drivel. It is becoming increasingly clear to me that RTD is not the only weird person involved with Torchwood---Eve is starting to really irritate me with the stuff she keeps spouting. To begin with I felt sorry for her having to play such a bitch but she doesn't even see just how revolting a lot of people found Gwen's behavior, which, in my humble opinion, shows that Eve herself is not exactly the sort of person I would like. If she thinks Gwen is compassionate and the nucleus of the team, and hasn't been misquoted, then she is either very stupid or just as unpleasant as Gwen. Personally I am now sick of Gwen and Eve.
If she is really lovely but just misguided I appologize to her, although she wont ever read this anyhow.

I think they expected her to be the breakout "star" of T.Wood (what with JB & NM having established careers, no idea about BG) so everyone would forgive her character foibles. When its obvious that it is (will be) GDL who has made a better impression on viewers as he seems to be a genuinely nice decent person.
She does spout a load of crap, and now i really can't stand her. And its not like she's anything to write home about.

Eve as break out star.
Anyhow, I must admit I have a thing about people called Eve because that was the name of our daughter that died as a baby. I realize it is utterly ridiculous but the first thought I had when I knew her name was Eve was something along the lines of--why is she still here playing this hateful character and my own little Eve has been gone for nearly 6 years.
And more important WHY DIDN'T SHE GET HER TEETH FIXED?

I never thought about how they thought she was going to be the break out star, that explains sooo much.

And in the bits that have been leaked so far, Owen definitely looks in charge. I haven't seen GWEN giving any orders, only Owen.
You know what? Screw it. I have a long history with ignoring things shows do that I find retarded, so if when the show airs, it looks like the interviews are right? I'll just ignore it like I do many, many, many stupid things shows have done. I'll just shove Gwen under a bus or something in fanfic...(I actually do manage to make her not horrible, and give her stuff to do, in fic most of the time, but I'm going to start killing her if TPTB keep forcing her down my throat.)

"they tend to ignore things that happened in previous episodes if it doesn't work for the current episode." Yes that infuriated me in the ep following TKKS the sole reason i watched it was for some Ianto/Jack interaction (not exactly in the smutty context) but something that showed the audience they were at least re-establishing trust.

At this point my consolation is that, from the other spoilers, she's going to look a complete fool.
