Quick, short, and unbetaed (if Rhys had a diary, with sp and grammar errors...), but this is Rhy's thoughts after Gwen 'went away' after the episode "Meat".

Ever since Rhys Williams was a little boy, he had looked onto the stars with wonder and longing and fear. Not so much fear that Rhys stopped wishing that Earth wasn't alone after all, but enough for Rhys to remember to wish that they do know enough, to never open any doors into worlds they are not prepared for, yet.

He heard a story about a baby who could remember his past life, tried to stand up and run before he could even walk, and crippled himself for life.

So when Rhys woke up with a huge headache, still in his clothes and with a giant envelope on his bedstand, he read it before even even getting out of bed, and then he turned on the TV to check the date, and then he watched the video, and then he erased the video.

The last thing that Rhys could remember was Thursday, an evening of eating fish and chips in the park because Gwen wasn't home again. The note told him that it should probably be Monday, and not to leave the house before watching then wiping the tape. The note told him that Gwen had recklessly endangered others, and that, in consideration with her malicious abuse of power and continued lies whenever she was given the chance to confess and repent, necessitated her current 'treatment' in a location that Rhys does not need to know. What Rhys needs to know was explained in the note, and proven by the video, a video that must have been shot from a camera hidden in the light fixture.

Perhaps, whoever 'managed' Gwen had the technology to manufacture the video, but as Rhys watched it, he remembered the scene shown. Gwen confessing to cheating on him, which she did not explain (though he was not surprised), and then, Gwen confessing to drugging him, and his memory of being terrified as he fell down. There were other things too, the rank smell of bloodymeat, but those memories were vague and Rhys did not want to remember.

Rhys wiped the tape, tore up the note, and gave it a week, a week where occasionally, he felt as though he was being watched, but the week after Gwen was gone, was little different from when she slept in their bed (when she did). He followed the note's story that Gwen had left him the week before, and suspected that the police had been told to leave him alone, when no one question the sudden absence of Gwen from their flat (but she was rarely there to begin with).

Sometimes Rhys sees these people that Ruth told him were 'Torchwood' that he thinks he had seen before. He's delivered a waterbed for the two tall men of the group, and they seemed rather nice. Whatever is it that they do, the world is alright, and Rhys doesn't need to know more.

always thought rhys was too good for gwen, rhys seems like a decent guy with a good heart where for all the talk of gwen and her "all so beating heart of torchwood' naff seemed like just talk with nothing to show for it.
