How many deaths is Gwen responsible for, either directly or indirectly, through her actions? I challenge someone to tally them up, from "Everything Changes" all the way through to "Exit Wounds". Because I know it's definitely up into the double figures, and probably far outweighs the number of deaths Jack has been responsible for in the same time frame.

re: Gwen being a banshee
Well, now, ;_;
...but screw canon, I think general consensus fanon matters more, canon is only FILM, because that's the only thing we can't reproduce, and sadly, it's determine by a man with a complex, but alas, again, fanon, and photoshop. Plus, it's increasingly popular for directors to cast people who have worked together before again, fans love stuff like that.
I saw a really good Cyclops/Wolverine video someone made, using footages from both the actor's other work.

Then there's all the people who died when Abbadon was let loose. Okay, the others all went along with it, but Gwen (and Owen) were the ringleaders.

But bringing him back only cheapened his death...
From:
I hate how giving someone's life back cheapens their death
If it cheapens the death scene, so be it, a life well lived, a character getting more crowning moments of awesome after being brought back, > any oscar whoring death scene.

Toshiko Sato's death, maybe Owen's
Also, Tosh might not have died, AND Owen might not have died, if they were both there at the nuclear site, Tosh would have stopped it, and being there, not fall victim to Gray. Tosh would have been there had she not been stopped by the weevils...which the billyclub equipped constables could have HELPED beat back, if they weren't following Gwen's expert advice on door knocking.
If they want her to be smart and wonderful, they should have shown her to be smart, and work her way up to second-in-command, and as the newbie, she should have respected and started by deferring to everyone who was there before her first, including 'the porter'. It's not 'feminist' and oh so Independent Woman for Gwen to just stroll in there and replace Suzie, cause um;
1. Tosh was there first!
2. Feminist and Independent Women means refusing to be disrespected on the grounds of being female, it doesn't mean you shouldn't respect people who know better, male or female, and yes, you shouldn't just blindly follow order, nor should you blindly DISOBEY them, you should think on it. In any org where rank is important, you should preface your questions like this, "with all due respect, sir/madam"...you should challenge your boss in private.
Sometimes there is no time to wait for private time, and it is the value of a good right hand to know when, that good right hand is Ianto, as the newbie, Gwen needs to wait and learn, for starters, what the mysterious earth tech know as a GPS is. How to secure weapons; bag the knife and put it in a box, or dangle it down by your side; this way no one can run into it, like, if you held it up in front of you, while SPACING OUT.

...and if Gwen is the social worker of Torchwood, as RTD has put it...
...and Gwen does not have to lie to Rhys about Emily, or Torchwood, just not tell him.
"Honey, I'm working with Special Ops, and I'm under similar agreements as those that work for the Home Office; I can't talk about work beyond whether I had a good day or a bad day, I can't tell you what and why."
"Honey, this is Emma, she's someone who needs to stay with us for a while, and I can't tell you where she's from or why, but she needs us, please?"

How to talk about work with Rhys
'Rhys, I can't, and I shouldn't talk about work with you at all, because of agreements I've signed and I don't want it to follow me home, but just in case...*gives him a picture of Carys* Don't show this to anyone else, but this woman saw me, it is important that as soon as you see her, that you turn the other way and run and call me okay? In fact, I'll feel better if you were to stay in for the next few nights, invite your friends over. Yes, even Banana, just keep him out of our room!'
"Countrycide"
Is definitely something Gwen could talk to Rhys about, because it doesn't involve aliens...as for how to tell someone happy like Rhys about cannibals, dude, it'll be in the news. ...and before Gwen came home, she could have talked to her teammates, without taking off her pants, or instead of marinating in her own grief and fear, she could have been comforting Tosh and Ianto who had a beat down. I would have swallowed the bit about her being the heart, if instead of her always talking about feelings (or just), they had shown Gwen tending to her teammates, trying to set them up on dates instead of telling them they have no life or that being in love looks good on Tosh after Mary (like, telling someone orgasms make their skin glow after they had been raped)...actually tending to their wounds, bringing them food, or helping them clean up their apartment after a big disaster, but I guess that's beneath her. (Gwen did bring Suzie food in TKKS, part of why I like her in that epi. Do useful stuff!) < / rant >
'I can't tell you the specifics, but me and my co-workers was at the scene of the cannibal thing, so I just don't have an appetite right now.' *quiet cuddle time*
