At the beginning of one of the chapters in John Barrowman's new book 'I Am What I Am', he lists twelve things he loves about Captain Jack Harkness. Can't remember where they come in the list, but two of the items are:
*Ianto's knowledge of things to do with a stopwatch
*Jack's adoration of Ianto
Okay, so I know I'm reading more into this than I should, but I couldn't stop myself from thinking, "Gwen never made the list, but Ianto's on there twice!!!"
On another interesting note, John expresses more in his book than he has at any other time just how unhappy he really was about Torchwood being cut to five episodes, and about the cast being stripped back from five, to three, and then to two. Not happy at all....

Heck, people in Canada know him outside of Torchwood. The ads for How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?, with him in it, was all over Toronto.
I just wish that Naoko Mori and Burn Gorman have found something else too. It's been a year. I hope the new viewers of CoE will watch the old seasons, and love it better. I loved the V for Vendetta movie when I saw it, but then I read the book, and the book was much better, and I felt that the movie was a bastardization of that, and I stick to book canon. Hopefully there will be more interest in Mori and Gorman then, because they did brilliant work.

Long live to Ianto.
Ianto is not dead, he drink coffee with me.
happy he not mention Gwen in this book.
Do you realize how much Jack Harkness is destroy without Ianto?

Ok, if you don't want spoilers, don't read this post.
I totally agree with you. He came across as very unhappy with season 3 and the direction TW was going. He was very distant and almost angry in certain places.
He made little snide comments about RTD, JG and the Euros guy.
He wasn't happy about the direction he was being given or the actual work he had been given and what kind of actor they were turning him into, which in my opinion was the character but profile actor and not main lead.
He wasn't happy with how jack was being treated or what they were turning him into.
He didn't really mention Eve, she was mentioned in passing but unlike the first, there was really no story about her. Interesting?
He didn't mention the death scene with Ianto at all, unless i blocked it out, but he did mention the one with Stephen.
He seemed to spend a lot of time in his trailer, alone to calm down.
He talked more about Burn, Naoko and Gareth than Eve.
His called the chapter, where do we go from here, now the song is where do i go from here? Assuming he is a Carpenters fan, the lyrics of the actual song are very interesting, maybe it is a hint?
But the thing i did find the most interesting is the fact that he was paranoid about season 3 and kept asking scott his opinion on it and as more and more scripts came out and time passed by, he only got worse and kept on asking scott his opinion.
Now, i like you thought, i'm reading too much into this so i got a second opinion, my mum, who is completely unbiased, i made her read the chapter and her opinion was, he was very unhappy and didn't like how he had been treated by them and he didn'tlike the way it was going and in her honest opinion, and it is just an opinion, i am not saying it is true, but in her honest opinion, he has left TW and isn't going back. I don't know if you got the same opinion or feeling, but that is the feeling she got.

He don't mention the Ianto death ?????
Stephen I agree totally but no Ianto. The death of Ianto was poor writing and the death mean nothing. They completely erase it.
Also, why he want the opinion of Scott? Because of the queer jokes?

No, he didn't mention ianto's death as far as i can remember, although i seem to have a block when it come to mentioning it, lol. He only mentioned stephen's death as a comment about the direction Euros was giving him, which he didn't seem happy about.

There is a song called 'Where do we go from here'. It's from Once more with feeling, the musical episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
All those comments from the book, very very interesting. I wonder if JB feels that he's effectively done with Torchwood so he might as well let it all hang out so to speak. I can't imagine him working willingly with the same production after spouting off like that, so he - and his editor/manager - can't be overly optomistic about him doing more Torchwood.
It's a shame, not only for us fans, but JB always seemed like the biggest fanboy of all, and he seems to have been screwed over as well.

And i also loved the lack of eve in this book.
But i can't re read it for the next couple of days! SOB!!! I have an assignment and i am behind on preperation for it.
Do you think i could get away with blaming the book if i get a low grade? lol!

BTW I looked up the lyrics for the song and they are telling:
Autumn days
Lying on a bed of leaves
Watching clouds up through the trees
You said our love was more than time
It's colder now
The trees are bare and nights are long
I can't get warm since you've been gone
I can't stop singin' sad songs
(*) Where do I go from here?
Tell me where do I go from here?
You said you'd take me through the years
So where do I go from here?
Lover's plans
Like fallin' leaves on windy days
Flutter past and they fly away
I though I knew you oh so well
And I need you now
I need to feel you in the night
I need to your smile so warm and bright
I wish my mind could let you go
Repeat (*)
You said you'd take me through the years
So where do I go from here?

He said recently that he was booking for 2012 now, so unless he has left a longish gap someplace, in case Torchwood is renewed, he will not be able to do a full Season even if there is one.
As for Eve, I think she has probably, in the words of a popular saying here, put her foot in it once too often for even John. Saying Jack and Ianto's relationship was for comic relief couldn't have helped much either---

I think the only way John would go back is if they FIX what they broke, now I don't necessarily mean bring Ianto back (although this is Scifi for God's sake and if Stargate can kill Daniel how many times???) but they'd have to fix the character destruction that at least was done to Jack.
Scheduling...hmmm...interesting thought, Eve WANTS in but if she can't make her schedule fit John's, providing John signs on. Oh my what an interesting "discussion" that could be.

Oh indeedy, to be a fly on the wall when that conversation would be taking place!

In the Shadows, Jack admits to himself that Ianto is the man he loved and that he is also the one who is closest to understanding him.
The Sin Eaters, audio book he claims that Ianto Time is his favourite way to spend an afternoon and later, that he needs the Welshman more than he cares to admit even to himself.
In the Radio 4 play, ‘Dead Line’ Jack tells Ianto that he is more that just a blip in time suggesting that the Welshman is significant.
Adam episode, we see clearly Jack can do anything to thrust Ianto. It's because of Ianto Jack save the team.
The firts episode of season 2, Jack say to Ianto I come back for you.
So I don't see how they can fix Jack without bring back Ianto.
And I not watch if they give to Jack another piece of ass.

I'm not saying Jack doesn't love Ianto, if anything his reactions at the end of COE support it, but Jack is immortal and hyperaware of that fact.
I don't like that they killed Ianto or many of the reason they did so, though John's reasoning he gave in that recent interview is a bit easier to swallow. I also don't really like how they killed him for many reason such as it's full of plot holes and served no real purpose other than to kill Ianto.
However they destroyed the characters of Ianto and Jack in that series, by making them be and do things that they aren't and wouldn't do. That can be fixed.
Also while the books are great I think at best they are debatably cannon.
