The poor man has to act like he cares opposite cow eyes.

...and I so identify with Owen, I thought she was cute, but then the shallow comes out and I'm just disgusted.

I liked her when I rewatch "Countrycide", but after that, especially in Adrift, yeesh. She treated Tosh like manual labour.

To me Countrycide was the moment I really disliked her, she hardly followed police procedure about going into a supposedly empty house and the way she wanted to have 'Closure' afterwards because she couldn't believe humanity was that dark, I would have thought that she would have seen that in the archives it would be true?!?! 'Shrugs' Just my thoughts any how.

Still kinda shocked that EM is down that much, would have thought after 'Framed' that it would be better then that.....

She was likable but incompetent in Countrycide

Some things were so fast I didn't notice it the first time around, but in the Tosh/Ianto heavy screep recaps someone posted at torch_wood (you can find it under jack/ianto/tosh tag)...she was cuddling everyone during the shooting scenes and after they got captured by the cannibals.

Really dumb, especially when she leaned her ear against a cannibal's mouth (um, Mike Tyson?)...but personality wise, okay, they actually SHOW her caring...until the end...when SHE has to know, as oppose to yanno, Tosh and Ianto. At that point though, I could still blame the writers before writing error becomes her character.

I found her "Whom did you snog last time"-game disgusting and especially tactless, considering that they've just collectively killed off Ianto's girlfriend a couple of weeks earlier.

So no, nothing to like for me about her in Countrycide. But that's perhaps just me.

A recent rerun of Countrycide reminded me of how much she sucks. Everyone else managed to be scared and horrified but still competent and professional, including the non-field-agent Ianto! Gwen, on the other hand was noticeably hysterical throughout, did remarkably stupid and self-indulgent things, and managed to make it all about her in the end.

This was also the ep in which she pretty much put paid to the notion that she's any kind of "heart" at all - that snog question was just fucking cruel. She just killed Ianto's girlfriend AND snogged Owen AND she's pretty aware that Tosh never gets any, so she had to know that no one's answer would turn out well, and that even bringing it up would leave the entire camp feeling like shit.

Interesting....Perhaps it just goes to show which actors make the bigger have the long term interest of the viewers (are you listening to me again, BBC?) and long term prospects!!
As for Framed...it was a bit odd wasn't it? Advertised (it seemed to me) as purely an EM vehicle, but really not much EM in it (excellent!!)...mainly it seemed to be all about the villagers/kids in the village. I thought the rest of the villagers were great!
Sad really isn't it that evryone feels sorry for Kai
Owen/Rhys!? either "acting like he cares" or, in character, or being retconned by his wife, having his wedding ruined and so on!
