A quick yes or no vote. Am I locking down this comm to keep out the people who are not anti-Gwen, but who seem to feel that it is appropriate to trawl our site, looking for things to attack our members with on other sites, where they are not doing any harm?

I didn't had a lot of time lately to really follow what was going on, but from what I saw in some glimpse from time to time, I think it would be a good idea.
Some people seems to want to start a fight, let's just block their chance to do so.

I've posted here before and have been lurking for a bit but I think this is a good idea. It seems that people just want to start fights and tell us how wrong we are for "hating" one character but than go on to attack a character we love and support. Does that make sense??

FYI, I try hard not to use the word hate when referring to anyone or anything... I prefer dislike strongly... I'm strange like that.

Absolutely NOT. Why hide? It's only LJ.

Bring the Bullshit to my door, if needs be. I've been in fandom since the creaky old days of the original slash couple: Kirk/Spock (shatner and nimoy for the under 12 crowd). I was on usenet and the well, and if you care to look, my first ancient online aol account began in 1992(it's still active).

If you back down in front of these stupid internet bullies, what else are you willing to backdown from? I am so tired of people taking the piss, and then everyone fucking freaking out.

So my vote is no.

My vote is no, too. Fuck 'em. This comm is not hurting anyone, least of all a fictional character who some people are obviously too delusional to grasp isn't actually having her widdle feelings hurt because she's, you know fictional. I'm tired of the thought nazis who want to infest fandom telling everyone how they are supposed to think.

Kock rocks! (If you haven't seen the Kirk/Spock NIN Closer vid on youtube, it is made of so much win IMO. )

I just found this com today while searching for janto fanfic, so I won't place a vote.

Sadly, I've seen all sorts of sad behavior like this in fandoms before. Why can't people let other people like or dislike someone/something? It's not hurting them or their love/hate of that someone/something.

I like Janto, but I won't go around bashing anyone who doesn't. I like Ianto, but I won't bash anyone who doesn't. Differences in likes and dislikes make my friendship and relationships with people interesting. My housemate has so many different likes/dislikes, but that's what makes living with him interesting.

One things for sure, It's better then listening to those Guackers. So my answer is yes.

I vote no...we stand by what we say and they, the anonymous cowards, can piss off. I wanted to say yes to protect the members here that I love reading and conversing with but I think we need to not back down and show them our strength. Plus they would just crow about it.

I'm only watching this place, and I'd like to be able to continue with that + I add a little comment once in a while, I suggest that all comments are IP-logged, but that the comm stays open to all

I vote for NO, i think that we shouldn't have to hide ourselves.

From: [identity profile] wingslapped.livejournal.com

In case this community does get locked down, I'm going to go ahead and apply for membership. (Go figure I would find this comm while searching for fanfic.)

Gwen started pissing me off early in the series by cheating on Rhys with Owen and acted like she would have with Jack if he showed any interest.

From: [identity profile] vamp-lynette.livejournal.com

I vote NO!! I know I only pop my head up and post rarely so feel free to ignore me.

My first reaction was yes, but then I had a good think about it. While it might be nice to be able to post safely and not have to worry about being targeted by Gwen fans, if this community is locked, it's like we’re giving in. That they've scarred us into submission, that we are ashamed of our opinions and I bet someone would soon post that we've essentially gone in to hiding to prove their pro-Gwen ideals.

We have nothing to be ashamed of, we are not the ones who are crawling pro-Gwen and Gwack sites to find anti-Ianto/Gareth comments because I have run across those kind of posts before.

We do not hide behind “anonymous” because we can’t handle the confrontation, we aren’t afraid of people looking at our interest and memberships to see what we like, bet they are. Afraid to be shown as biased due to there love of Gwak probably and feel threatened by Ianto, not saying all people who attack us are, but some, probably. We respect other journals, not our problem if people don’t respect ours. Leave the com open; let’s not be forced into isolating ourselves to please people who have different opinions from us. Sorry, this went on a while didn’t it.

I am proud to say that even if everyone everywhere said Gwen was great I would still loathe her and I am obviously a superior being because I am having Triplets. {That was a joke by the way--although the triplet bit is true}.

From: [identity profile] kaja-jones.livejournal.com

I kinda feel that by locking the community we'll lose new people and that no matter what is done some people are always willing to start a fight about anything.

From: [identity profile] rmbailey.livejournal.com

Most definitely yes. It seems to me that they are allowed to voice their own opinions and other people who don't agree with them are not.

From: [identity profile] em615.livejournal.com

I'll throw in my two pennies and say no. The morons will still find a way to get in somehow. Why not stay open? Why bow to pressure from weenies who need to grow a pair and learn how to play nicely with others?

From: [identity profile] chyldeofnyte.livejournal.com

I vote no.

Hiding implies that we're in the wrong, and that I refuse to believe. This community has as much right to our beliefs and feelings as the other side does. Let the trolls come. I'm sure that there are plenty with troll kicking boots around here. ;)

I an see the idea for yes and no, but ultimately I say

NO!

Only because it clearly states that we are not Gwen fans and anybody who has complained..... well clearly they are either moronic or spoiling for another Ianto versus Gwen fights, which lets be honest is funny if taken in jest. But internet is all about free speech, if people can't understand that then I'm sorry this world is more full of stupider people then I thought.

From: [identity profile] pitac89.livejournal.com

No. Locking down seems like we're running and hiding.

From: [identity profile] dragonsrmd.livejournal.com

I'd vote a very definite *NO*

Why? well because it's one thing to debate an issue with someone, and obviously quite another to be hostile and abusive. I wouldn't tolerate that sort of attitude in RL and there I'm more than capable of standing up for myself!

The anonymity of LJ is no excuse, at the end of the day for whatever reasons, we choose to dislike a *fictional* character, and any insult no matter that it's anonymous is still directed at another person, and I *don't* intend to hide from that level of immaturity! Why should anyone?

From: [identity profile] targoj.livejournal.com

I vote No

No, please don't lock this community. Ditto reasons as those who have voted no that I've read through.
