Never really was anti Gwen until now...sure I hated that she was a Mary Sue and fawned all over Jack...But I liked the idea of a strong police woman But all this changed after a recent interview with Eve Myles that was what clinched it for me and only after then di I seek this site out.

In case none have you seen this interview here it is

Eve may as some say be a nice woman and all that but if this is any kind of insight into her and the future of Gwen then I dont want any part of it.  In a nut shell this killed any love that I had remaining for the show

I'm afraid that EM seems to have been brainwashed by RTD and actually believes that Gwen is really the heart of the show. Seriously, that interview really makes me want to scream at her.

what’s dead stays dead
Tell that to Rhys already. (rolls eyes)

I wonder how much of that interview is taken out of context...because if it wasn't...then she seems to come across as ungrateful and condesending towards the fans - the people they make the show for, for gods sake. Its very easy for her not to 'mollycoodle us' (and those words slightly made me want to scream at the screen) when she gets a happy ending!
I don't want to be one of those people whos dislike for a character leaks over to the actress, but shes making it very difficult atm...

I'm with you on that, that interview irked me on so many levels, but especially the bit about Ianto. Particularly where she talks about how they'd be treating us like kids if there had been a happy ending, it's so insulting and patronising. Not to mention easy to say when her character has a happy ending as usual.

Clearly she's never watched much Sci-fi, otherwise she'd know that it's the one genre where what's dead doesn't always have to stay dead. There are so many ways the writers could bring back Ianto if they wanted to. There's no way I'll be watching The Gwen Cooper Show the next series of Torchwood if they don't!

I personally think that she needs to take a page from John Barrowman’s book of how to treat the fans. Gareth learnt well from John over the last few years – he went from being someone who was a very difficult and awkward interview, to someone who was very open and gracious and very appreciative of his fans. As opposed to Eve Myles, who seems to have taken a leaf out of Russell T Davies’ book, and treats the fans like incongruous morons.

contrast gareth's interviews with hers and their is a big difference.

Having seen Eve at the BFI, my strongest impression of her was that she is very excitable and hyper, a bit like my little BJ in an adult. Despite being pregnant, she was practically, oh hell, what is the word in English, jumping up and down in her chair with excitement at times. I've always thought JB was excitable but she made him look calm.

Personally I think she has realized that without Torchwood she will go back to being virtually unknown, someone who is known as the former star of Torchwood.

As for her interviews, she has always followed RTD's line about Gwen, regardless of how Gwen actually behaves in the show, and I still haven't forgotten her saying, of Season 2, that Gwen would be staying faithful to Rhys unfortunately and then laughing.

Anyhow, I have no intention of watching The Gwen Cooper Show and I have a sneaking suspicion that most other folk will soon tire of it as well, whatever they say now.

RTD, with the BBC and other writers help, has finished Torchwood. I think that was his intention all along. I am leaving so I am going to make sure this is over, because I am a self centered egiost.
