Thanks a lot for posting this, it was ncie to read :) I was happy to hear him say
"It's science-fiction, so anything can happen, but as far as I'm aware at the moment, he is dead. But you know, who knows what the producers and writers have got planned and stored away?!"
and
You should keep watching, you never know!"
it gives me hope! Normally they say "he's dead as a do-do... i do hope it's not false hope tohugh!
People can come back in scifi, believe me, the killed of spock in one of the S T films and they brought him back. It took two films but he still came back. It gives us all a little ray of hope, his answer is nothing like Naoko and Burn's answer where it was clear that they weren;t coming back, his is more, well it is a possibility but you never know.
Hey, wouldn;t it of been cool if he and John had been in the same panto? That would have been fun.
I felt a spark of hope when I read his comments. Unlike Eve "the dead stay dead" Myles, Gareth's answers left the door propped well open. And we all know that anything is possible in sci-fi...
It's interesting that although he says on more than one occassion he was happy with the final scene (and who can blame him) AND that's he's happy he got to do some exploration of the character - he doesn't say he thinks the death was "vital" or "the right thing" or "moved the story forward" or any of the other guff we've heard from the crew and Eve Myles.
He sounded as if he was saying what they wanted him to say. I think it's disgusting that the way he found out was when he was given the scripts and he was only in 4 out of 5. At least they had a meeting with Burn both times he died and with Naoko when she was going to die.
