I'm kinda new to this community and decided now that I've caught up on all the brilliant fics and even better rants, thought I should delurk.

In an attempt to rid Series 3 from my brain, I decided that I should watch Series 1 again, and for some reason my mother wanted to too (and didn't that make for fun viewing during episode 2!) but anyway, we are now on episode 3 and my annoyance is growing by the second.

Gwen must be the most irritating character anyone has ever conjured up. Shes just...urgh. I mean, she was hired to replace Suzie? Correct me if I'm worng, but wasn't Suzie an admittedly slightly crazy but brilliant weapons expert? Gwen can't even fire a gun! It just doesn't make sense to me. At all.

I would list more reasons I don't like Gwen but others have done it before, better than I could, (and I haven't quite got the hang of lj cuts yet :-) ) so I'll just pose a question to you lovely people: What were your first impressions of Miss Cooper (if you can remember lol)?

I'm ashamed to admit on first viewing i liked ehr... dont' hate me! I was youn and naive! lol
I even shcipped Gwack (this was when i still thought Ianto was a traitor not fully understanding his motivations in cyberwoman)
By the ssec ond veiwing i noticed Ianto's little one liners and fell in love :P
I totally shipped Janto and realised Gwen was getting in the way... then i noticed she was pointless and anoyying... lol

Gwen, to be honest, first impression, I liked her, as a nosy policewoman I thought it was wonderful. And then she became too thick... and she had to state the obvious of everything and I didn't like the way Gwack was so pushed.

The first episode I've seen was KKBB which honestly didn't make much sense to me as I didn't know any of the background, after that I both the first season DVDs. My first impression of Gwen? From Everything Changes when she arrived to the crime scene and they told her they are leaving. She was wonderingwho are Torchwood and that they can contaminate the scene. So you know better then all the CSI people (or whatever they called them in the UK) even though you are a cop on the beat?

In the hindsight though I realised that most probably she had done something to contaminate a crime scene herself and that must have been one of the golden rules to teach her. (Hope that makes sense)
By the way, wouldn't that be a great fic to read? *sending hopefull looks towards all the fic writers*

Afterwards, when she left with the car forcing PC Andy to get back by himself because she wanted to investigate something... well that was just selfish.

I have got to say, she was ok in ep one, i think she handled the whole thing really well but from then on she just became annoying. The thing i don;t get is, you start a new job, you know nothing about it or what to do, why the hell do you try and tell your boss how to run it? Torchwood has been going on since 1800s and so has jack, lol, he would know what to do and how to run things, etc, she is there about 5 minutes and thinks she can say, oh you can;t do that or this. Most people would have been fired.

And she gets worse as the season goes on. But she wasn't as bad as she was in season 2, my god did she need a good bitch slapping. Talk about being stuck up her arse and power mad. I think the thing that really annoyed me was her speech in Meat, the poor me you don't understand and i can't lie to rhys, misses i tell me partner i slept with someone else but retcon his so he doesn't know.How can she take the moral high ground? I mean, jack may flirt with everything but he is faithful to his partners.

I think the more RTD tried to push her down our throats, the more i hated her.

My first impression was : "Okay, she's the noob who enter with us in the world of Torchwood, she HAS to be noisy and to stick her nose where it doesn't belong. I can live with that" .

Then her long serie of incompetent and arrogant behaviours starts and I joined the AGA.

I've come to believe that Jack's hired her for nostalgic reasons, actually. She reminded him of a bug-eyed, tencacled alien with whom he used to have fantastic sex, back in the 51st century. *g*

I did like Gwen at the beginning but after the first few shows, she began to get very annoying, Jack hired her to be the heart of Torchwood as he thought they had all lost their humanity working there........ I'm sorry having the affair with Owen, trailing after Jack like a sick demented puppy and not knowing when to not push things *Flat Holm*.....bloody trying to run TW3 how she thinks it should be run, and then getting away with everything *being told to retcon Rhys and then not, retconning Rhys because of her having an AFFAIR with Owen, coming in late!* AND what the HELL does she do when not in the field!!

*breaths heavily* okay rant over....

I could go on and on about why I don't like Gwen but I won't. I'll just say I haven't liked her from the beginning. First episode and she gets someone killed because she can't keep her nose out of a restricted area. Second episode she releases a gas alien resulting in the deaths of many men besides telling people who have been this job from a long time what they should or should not be doing. All talk, no brains, no observation skills and what ever happened to job training? Episode 3 she was trying to stop Owen and ended up being the one who killed the guy. She has an affair, retcons Rhys after the confession (which she only did because Owen took up with Diane) and then became a hypocrit in Meat when Jack wanted him retconned. She has no problem with Owen shooting Jack and leading the rebellion to open the Rift to save Rhys but sat like a grieving widow by Jack's body not letting anyone else grieve. Of course, since she's useless she probably didn't have anything else to do.

In KKBB she claims to have lead Torchwood but I don't understand how. She asked in Sleeper what UNIT was. If she has been with Torchwood for over a year and run it in Jack's stead she would have known what UNIT was. Her constant screaming, tantrums and unprofessional behavior would not have been tolerated in a professional organization. She never had any consequences and Jack was either blind or a pussy for not standing up to her.(script writers fault). If she was indeed the heart of Torchwood, Torchwood needs a transplant.

I live in Australia and (bear with my rant) ABC has finally got hold of Torchwood rights and is screening starting season 1...I downloaded CoE and am glad they are screening S1...just to wipe the CoE out of my brain

I didn't mind Gwen in E1..i could understand her curiosity and all...I fell in love with Ianto from his fist "Don't keep him waiting"

Second Episode...she was starting to get on my nerves...and my patience was fraying

Episode 3 sceened and it was this moment i decided i hated her...i mean getting away with murder?!?

I am...in general...a person who believes in second chances and giving characters time to develop...i waited patiently for gwen to turn good...to change...i mean owen did...but nothing...nada
