Has anyone read what has been posted IMBD?


Because someone claims that they have received their copy of the DVD and has posted some supposed spoilers. I won't say what they are but its not looking good for us Janto fans, that is all i am saying, so the question is:

a. do we believe them?
b. if they are true, are any of you going to continue to watch TW afterwards?

I find that part REALLY strange that a store has them so early to send out. I know people get books early sometimes, but even so that isn't a dvd and those times it was close to the release date that people got their copies.

I think someone should post this to the torch_wood comm in order to gain a more of a response to this spoiler.

Highly possible the DVDs are around, rental stores typically get them 1 week before the release date.

I heard something like this months ago but didn't want to believe it. I do though. I will not watch TW without Ianto. Period.
That said though I will not give up hope. If Jack is going it's likely he is meeting up with The Doctor and maybe RTD will fix it. He better. My hatred for him for killing Ianto will know no bounds.

I will not watch until I hear what has happened either. I remained unspoiled (other then hearing the rumour months ago that Ianto would die and Jack would leave) but no more. I want to know before I waste my time watching it.

What's bugging me most about that description - if it's in any way accurate - is that it looks like the main action takes place in ep 4. Translation, ep 5 will be a Janto free zone.
And I seriously cannot believe that they'd do that.
I don't want to believe that they wouldn't even give us five full episodes of it.
(and if it's true, then I hope that ratings plumment tomorrow night. I for one will be cancelling my DVD & soundtrack order, AND mailing the BBC to tell them exactly why)

But can he really be that unaware of the popularity of his characters? I know he's said before stuff along the lines of not pandering to the fans, and telling the story his way. But there's pandering to the fans, and there's being smart enough to know just who is going to be switching off if they don't like what he's done. I mean, if he wants the show cancelled, he's going the right way to do it.

(in a way I'm half glad I read that post. At least this way I can get my anger/grief/frustration out a bit before having to actually watch the damned thing...and I am sorely tempted to switch off the TV until 10 and wait until I find out online what's happened)

I have just checked something and that was a user post not a mod of Imdb, why would just a normal member of the public get the DVD early when it doesn't come out to Monding. I'm now sitting hoping that the person has a really sick sense of humour and is messing with us all.

I worked for Blockbuster in college and we always got the DVDs one week before the release date. They didn't go on the shelf but the staff got to take them home to watch.

I read some of the replies and the person who wrote the post said that she pre-ordered from HMV and it was sent early. Surely if this had happened there would have been an uproar from the BBC about it like the last time i remember something was released early, i think it was a book and there was a huge thing about it in the news, but there's nothing on the BBC site.

Or he/she worked for HMV or some other video store and doesn't want to risk their job by admitting they got them early from there online.
I don't want to be a downer but I heard this exact scenario as a spoiler months ago and just laughed it off as I could not imagine RTD actually being so stupid. Now it looks as though it wasn't just a rumour.

What i don't get is a, how did they get it that early when it appears that no one else has and b, both john and gareth said we would be happy with what happens with janto this year, how is this happy?


If it is just down to jack and gwen, i am not watching TW ever again. RTD has killed off the best thing in the show and the only thing worth watching and has also done what every single other show has done, which is take out the gay relationship. Its a disgrace, it really is.

I don't think that anyone should panic just yet. I know that RTD likes to shock us (Tosh and Owen R.I.P) but it should be quite hard to get the DVD that quick. If that person lives in the UK I mean. Because they shouldn't be sending out DVD's if the series hasn't even finished on the television. Buuuuuuuuuuuuut I vote we have a back up plan.

Plan A: Wait it out and see if the rumours are true

Plan B: Storm up to BBC Wales with a petition saying they can't kill Ianto :D I think that Ianto is actually one of the most loved characters. It's almost as if RTD wants us to hate him. I mean he already shocked us with poor Toshie and Owen but if they try to take Ianto out of the picture they best make it a time-lord or like Jack or they'll be alot of unhappy fans (excluding the ones I'm guessing they've lost for the end of the last series)

If it is true, I'm done with Torchwood (fanfiction excluded, of course). I'm not fond of Gwen and Jack also has the tendency to irritate me. Without Ianto, why would I be watching again?

I think you have to look at intent here. I'm not sure there was any intention of making more after this series and if that is the case, this could potentially be true. However, if you take the view that they actually want to do more, then I dont believe its true. It would be totally counter productive as Janto is why a large proportion of the viewers watch and the programme makers know this. Surely they would not allow this to happen if they planned on making more.

I echo a lot of sentiments here in that if they try to continue without Ianto, I wont be watching....and RTD will need to leave the country and go into hiding as they'll be armies of fangirls after him!!!!

I mean, JB has said that it could end or continue based on the ending. I can't believe that he's that naive and/or knows so little of what the fans are thinking if he believes that it's plausible. (assuming the truth of that imdb post of course)

Well that's not half as misleading as the comment made by (I think) GDL, who said the Janto fans would be happy. (presumably he meant by the earlier eps)

Yes Ianto is killed off in ep 4! it was aired in the Uk about 20 mins ago and I am still crying my eyes out!
I am going to watch ep 5 but if there is a series 4 then I am in no way watching it!
RTD must realise that by doing this he has lost a huge number of fans!

The hell with it. I'm not going to watch anymore, RTD has been slowly killing his own show for me since season one, and this last thing has just finished it off.

I guess he followed through though. It was all about Gwen when he started and it's all about Gwen up til now, all he had to do was kill off the characters that were distracting the viewers from his Mary-sue "Masterpiece".

Just wanted to say, that I got email from BBC shop on Wednesday saying they've posted the dvd box. Takes more than a day to arrive to Finland, but people in UK could have it already.

Well I am hopeful that they will pull something in the last episode to bring Ianto back...yes I am an optimist but there you go. I was thinking on the way home in the car that if Ianto is really gone then the show really will have lost any hope of dramatic integrity. GDL and Naoko were the only ones that could get a good scene out of JB...he was great on DW as the comic foil as he is a stage actor and so very broad in his acting. This does not translate well to drama...I don't think EM as the range to get a good scene out of JB as the scenes they have had in the past were usually not well acted, in that our emotions were not engaged from their acting the scene but the scene in general. So really season 4 would have to bring in some awesome folks to keep the drama going with it's side of snarky humor and not let it slide into a parody of itself..with the writers trying to prop up the characters of Jack and Gwen.

If we get a season 4 without Ianto, I'm not watching. End.Of.Story. Why couldn't they kill off Gwen? Oh, that's right, Gwen is super special, wonderful and can save the world single handed because she knows everything and never makes mistakes. I officially hate RTD!
