Its great that Eve Myles is pregnant. I wish her and her SO the best. What bothers me is that in an interview she hopes that Gwen becomes a mother. She said she would love to play Gwen as a mother.  It's bad enough that every episode had more Gwen than anyone else and nearly every episode was the Gwen show. It's my deepest Torchwood hope and dream (outside of more Janto) that this does not happen. I will definitely not watch that. More aliens, more balance between the couples, less Gwen and soap opera land, please!

I would love her to play Gwen as a mother - as in, get pregnant, go on maternity leave - AND NOT COME BACK!

i think it's great for eve bless her she'll make an amazing mum but with Gwen constantly shaggin' any male that moves that baby would not have a fun life! Especially with all the retcon she uses too!!

Thanks for that, I tried googling but I couldn't find anything with quotes from her.

Interesting that she says she doesn't save the world she just sits in the makeup chair. No mention of acting!

Also, is it likely she was serious about being glad the baby was not an alien or would it have been a joke that I don't quite get?

Acting? What acting? Imho she really isn't much of an actress, very 1 dimensional.

I think the remark about the alien baby was a reference to Something Borrowed where Gwen was "pregnant" with a nostrovite baby.

Have you considered the worst possibility? That it might turn out the baby would be from Jack, and the whole season would be Gwen wangsting about how to tell Rhys the truth (and how to Retcon him right afterwards)?

Yes, but they didn't actually say that Gwen would have a baby. If she was 3 and a half months last month then she wouldn't have be pregant when they filmed series 3 and probably won't be by time filming for a 4th series comes around so really there is no reason for Gwen to have a baby.

I really don't like the idea of a baby in TW be it Gwens or anyone elses.

The producers must be aware that the vast majority of Torchwood fans are in favour of the Jack and ianto relationship whether they like Gwen's character or not so i very much doubt that they will get her preganant with Jack's baby.
Russell T Davies does seem oddly obsessed with Gwen though and making her the embodiment of all that is good. So it wouldn't surprise me if they did do a saccarine pregnancy storyline in series 4.

To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure I really care even for Series 3. For me, the team just isn't the same without Tosh and Owen (even though I despise Owen), and even with the possibility of a bit more Ianto, I don't think I can take much more Gwen-centered awfulness.

With all her flaws it's hard for me to accept her as everybody. In my 51 years I've never seen anyone like her who thought lying and cheating were normal in a relationship and who thought acting professionally at work was an option.

Ah yes, but Gwen IS pregnant too, a few of the comments seems to be about her NOT being so, I'm very happy for Eve, but Children in Torchwood is the one thing that would make me stop watching, so I hope Gwens personal sacrifice is leaving (yay) or maybe a miscarriage

Good synopsis on the first episode but how did she/he see episode 1? I thought it wasn't being shown until July.

Not that I "hate" Gwen, but I am glad I am not alone is saying that I was getting irritated at Gwen being in charge when Jack was away. She's the newest member-Ianto should have been in charge. They killed off 3 of the best characters. Ianto was my favorite. Although I love John Barrowman and Jack. Gwen was repeatedly saying to Reese that her job was no place for a baby and now she's pregnant and is 6 months pregnant at then end of Children of Earth. I don't understand the specialness of Gwen to RD which he carries over to Jack's feelings for her in TW. Why have Gwen sleep with Owen and not Jack? Why have Gwen get married to Reese - because he died and she got her priorities straight? I agree - I was tired of the Gwen show and wanted to learn more about Ianto. He was just opening up, his relationship with Jack becoming stronger and more meaningful, we were just getting to know his character and we never even got to see where Ianto lived. It was too soon for him to die. I feel that RD messed with a group of great actors that had great chemistry together and should not have killed them off until about Season 6 or 7. I'm glad TW was renewed for Season 4, but I am going to wait and see if RD can pull me back in and keep me past Season 4 - please more Jack and less Gwen.

I think a 4th series will find TW under the command of Gwen. Now that RTD had switched the leadership from Jack to Gwen there is no need to pretend the show was about Captain Jack. My understanding from everything I've read is he wanted Eve to star in this show he had written but couldn't get on the air so he rewrote it with Jack as the lead and as a spinoff of DW which sold it. Rumors were that In order for it to be on BBC1 it had to tone down the sex and become a more conventional show hence the gay couple had to go. Added to that, RTD's favorite is Gwen and I think Ianto was becoming more popular.

Thank you for the background info on RTD and what he really wanted to happen on Torchwood. I am very disappointed that it will be the Gwen show in the future. I have to say, though, that it was a bad mistake to kill off Ianto because now there will be no more banter back and forth between Ianto and Jack - for example - Reese yelling at Jack in the episode "Meat" and Reese saying that Jack was showing off and Jack turns to Ianto and asked him if he was showing off and Ianto says "Just a little". That relationship was fun and an element in the show that I loved. Ianto is not coming back, but I feel that the ratings will drop off if Season 4 if it is all about Gwen. I watched Torchwood for Jack and Ianto.

I have no intention of watching any more series. I watched 2 first and fell for Ianto and his comic wit. I could so identify with him. I loved what little bit of Janto they showed. I also liked Tosh a lot too. I was hoping for more character development with both her and Ianto. I grew to dislike Gwen very much. Her histrionics turned me off. When I started reading about TW and the actors/characters and found out she was supposed to be "the heart of Torchwood" I couldn't see it. I got series 1 DVDs and tried to like her. I don't usually feel so strongly about a character, I didn't even hate JR on Dallas, but I hated her. Now all of a sudden, after she's spent two years as a do nothing/know nothing, she's competent, computer literate, knows technology, and more of a leader than Jack.

No, there are other Eve lovers out there. I am not one of them. I've read and heard so many interviews she's given where she's said Jack and Ianto were comic relief and Gwen was the star, Gwen and Jack were soul mates, in other interview they were like brother/sister, husband/wife, best friends. I also wasn't impressed by her acting either in DW when she played Gwynneth or in TW. I feel she doesn't have much depth.
